What are the Seven Sacraments

7 Sacraments of the Catholic Church Explained for Kids

In this Juice Box compilation, kids learn about Baptism, the Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders through puzzles, Bible stories, books, LEGO builds, and simple explanations of how Christ gives us his grace through the sacraments.

What Are the 7 Sacraments of the Catholic Church?

The seven sacraments are Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders.

The Church teaches that the sacraments are effective signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, through which God shares his divine life with us.

They use visible signs and actions, such as water, oil, spoken words, bread and wine, and the laying on of hands, to communicate invisible grace.

The sacraments are not merely symbols that remind us of God. Christ truly acts through them.

In the opening video, Fr. Tim introduces all seven sacraments through a puzzle and explains how they help us encounter Jesus in ways we can see, hear, touch, and experience.

Episode Summary

This special Juice Box compilation brings together several episodes about the Catholic sacraments.

Fr. Tim begins with a puzzle that introduces all seven sacraments one by one. Kids see water for Baptism, the Eucharistic bread and chalice for Holy Communion, a dove for Confirmation, the Cross for Reconciliation, oil for Anointing of the Sick, wedding rings for Matrimony, and a stole representing Holy Orders.

The compilation then goes deeper. Kids hear the story of Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan River, learn how water has been used throughout Scripture, and discover how Christian Baptism gives new life in Christ and brings us into the Church.

Next comes First Holy Communion, beginning with the Last Supper and leading into the mystery of the Eucharist, where bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ.

Several segments focus on Confession, helping children understand sin, forgiveness, examination of conscience, penance, absolution, and why the sacrament is meant to bring healing rather than fear.

The compilation also includes a reading of Light of the Sacraments, walking through all seven sacraments using Scripture, imagery, and devotional explanations.

By the end, kids have not only learned the names of the sacraments. They have seen how the sacraments connect the life of Jesus to the life of the Church today.

The 7 Sacraments Explained for Kids

1. Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian initiation.

Through Baptism, a person is freed from sin, reborn as a child of God, incorporated into Christ, and made a member of the Church.

Water is the central visible sign of Baptism.

In the compilation, kids first learn how water cleanses, then hear the story of Jesus being baptized by John in the Jordan River. The episode connects water in Baptism with other important moments involving water in Scripture.

Jesus himself did not need Baptism for the forgiveness of sins because Jesus is sinless. His Baptism revealed his identity and helped inaugurate his public ministry.

Christian Baptism is more than an imitation of Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan. It is a sacrament instituted by Christ that truly communicates grace.

2. The Eucharist

The Eucharist, also called Holy Communion, is the sacrament in which Catholics receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and wine and gave them to his disciples as his Body and Blood.

At Mass, through the Eucharistic Prayer, especially the words of Christ spoken in the consecration, and the action of the Holy Spirit, the bread and wine become Christ’s Body and Blood while the appearances of bread and wine remain.

The Church calls this change transubstantiation.

The compilation walks kids through the Last Supper and connects Jesus’ words there with the words they hear at Mass.

The Eucharist is not merely a reminder of Jesus.

Jesus Christ is truly, really, and substantially present in the Eucharist.

3. Confirmation

Confirmation is a sacrament that seals and strengthens the baptized person with a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

In the compilation, the dove is used as a visual reminder of the Holy Spirit, and the episode emphasizes being sealed with the Spirit.

Confirmation does not mean a Catholic is “graduating” from the faith.

Instead, the sacrament strengthens the baptized person to live as a disciple of Christ and bear witness to the faith.

4. Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also called Confession or Penance, is the sacrament in which sins committed after Baptism are forgiven through God’s mercy.

A person confesses sins to a priest, expresses sorrow, receives a penance, and receives absolution.

The compilation spends significant time helping kids understand what happens in Confession and why they do not need to be afraid.

Kids learn about making an examination of conscience, confessing honestly, praying an act of contrition, receiving absolution, and completing a penance.

The priest does not replace Jesus.

Christ is the one who forgives sins, and the priest acts sacramentally in Christ’s name and by the authority Christ entrusted to the Church.

5. Anointing of the Sick

The Anointing of the Sick is given to Catholics whose health is seriously impaired by illness or old age.

A priest anoints the sick person with blessed oil and prays for the grace, strength, peace, and healing of Christ.

The sacrament can include physical healing if that is God’s will, but its purpose is broader than physical recovery.

It unites the sick person more closely to Christ, gives strength for suffering, and can also prepare a person for the final journey of this life when death is near.

In the compilation, Anointing is introduced through the need for Christ’s healing presence during serious illness.

6. Matrimony

The Sacrament of Matrimony unites a baptized man and woman in a lifelong covenant of marriage.

Husband and wife freely give themselves to one another in a lifelong, faithful, and fruitful covenant, ordered to their mutual good and to the procreation and education of children.

The compilation uses wedding rings as the visual sign for Matrimony and describes marriage as the lifelong gift of a man and woman to one another.

Christian marriage becomes a sign of Christ’s faithful love for his Church.

7. Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament through which bishops, priests, and deacons are ordained and configured for distinct forms of service to Christ and his Church.

The sacrament is conferred through the laying on of hands and the prayer of ordination.

In the compilation, Fr. Tim uses the priest’s stole to introduce Holy Orders and talks about the joy he experienced when he became a priest.

Priesthood is not simply a job.

Priests serve especially through preaching the Gospel, pastoral leadership, celebrating the Eucharist, and administering the sacraments entrusted to their ministry.

Bishops, priests, and deacons each serve the Church in distinct ways according to the ministry they have received.

[00:00:00 --> 00:00:00] Hi, friends.
[00:00:00 --> 00:00:03] Today we're building something awesome,
[00:00:03 --> 00:00:05] this giant Lego church.
[00:00:05 --> 00:00:08] I have so many questions about church.
[00:00:08 --> 00:00:11] Is the church the building or the people inside?
[00:00:11 --> 00:00:12] What happens at church?
[00:00:12 --> 00:00:13] Why do we go there?
[00:00:13 --> 00:00:15] Let's dive into these questions
[00:00:15 --> 00:00:17] while we build this together.
[00:00:17 --> 00:00:18] Let's go.
[00:00:18 --> 00:00:21] Juice Box. (giggles)
[00:00:21 --> 00:00:24] Church is a word that brings a lot of different pictures
[00:00:24 --> 00:00:25] to people's mind.
[00:00:25 --> 00:00:28] What do you think of when you hear the word church?
[00:00:28 --> 00:00:31] You might picture a beautiful building where people worship,
[00:00:31 --> 00:00:35] and that is part of what we mean when we say church.
[00:00:35 --> 00:00:38] Let's learn more about the building itself.
[00:00:38 --> 00:00:39] There are a lot of different styles
[00:00:39 --> 00:00:41] of churches throughout the world,
[00:00:41 --> 00:00:44] but they all share some common features.
[00:00:44 --> 00:00:47] Most churches will have steps leading up to the doors
[00:00:47 --> 00:00:49] as a reminder that when we go to church,
[00:00:49 --> 00:00:51] we are getting closer to heaven.
[00:00:51 --> 00:00:54] The entryway is called the narthex,
[00:00:54 --> 00:00:55] and that's the part you step into
[00:00:55 --> 00:00:58] right after you open the doors.
[00:00:58 --> 00:01:01] (gentle bright music)
[00:01:18 --> 00:01:22] (gentle bright music continues)
[00:01:22 --> 00:01:24] After that, it's the nave,
[00:01:24 --> 00:01:27] which comes from the Latin word for boat.
[00:01:27 --> 00:01:30] It's where everyone sits during mass.
[00:01:30 --> 00:01:33] It's called the nave as a reminder of Noah's ark
[00:01:33 --> 00:01:36] and how God redeems all of humanity.
[00:01:36 --> 00:01:38] Noah's ark was like a giant boat.
[00:01:39 --> 00:01:42] The very front of the church is called the sanctuary.
[00:01:42 --> 00:01:46] The sanctuary is where the priest stands during mass.
[00:01:46 --> 00:01:48] The two most important parts of the church
[00:01:48 --> 00:01:50] are in the sanctuary,
[00:01:50 --> 00:01:53] the altar and the tabernacle.
[00:01:53 --> 00:01:54] The altar is important
[00:01:54 --> 00:01:57] because that's where Jesus makes Himself present
[00:01:57 --> 00:01:59] in the Eucharist.
[00:01:59 --> 00:02:01] The tabernacle, which normally looks like
[00:02:01 --> 00:02:02] a large golden box,
[00:02:02 --> 00:02:05] is where the extra Eucharist is kept after mass,
[00:02:05 --> 00:02:07] so people can come and talk to Jesus
[00:02:07 --> 00:02:09] and know that He is there with them.
[00:02:09 --> 00:02:12] (gentle bright music)
[00:02:22 --> 00:02:24] Usually to the side of the sanctuary
[00:02:24 --> 00:02:27] is the sacristy and robing rooms.
[00:02:27 --> 00:02:30] The sacristy is where the Eucharist bread
[00:02:30 --> 00:02:32] and wine are kept when not being used
[00:02:32 --> 00:02:34] with the clergy vestments
[00:02:34 --> 00:02:37] and parish records or important books.
[00:02:37 --> 00:02:39] Clergy may use the sacristy for robing
[00:02:39 --> 00:02:41] or for private prayer.
[00:02:41 --> 00:02:44] (gentle bright music)
[00:02:44 --> 00:02:47] Our Lego church is starting to look super cool.
[00:02:47 --> 00:02:48] Let's keep building.
[00:02:50 --> 00:02:52] Those are some of the more important parts
[00:02:52 --> 00:02:53] of the church building,
[00:02:53 --> 00:02:55] but there are also lots of important things that happen
[00:02:55 --> 00:02:58] inside of the church, like worship.
[00:02:58 --> 00:03:01] Worship is a way that people who believe in Jesus
[00:03:01 --> 00:03:04] and God come together to show their love
[00:03:04 --> 00:03:06] and respect for Him.
[00:03:06 --> 00:03:09] The mass is the most important way that we worship at church
[00:03:09 --> 00:03:11] because that's when Jesus makes Himself
[00:03:11 --> 00:03:13] physically present to us.
[00:03:14 --> 00:03:17] We go to church because Jesus is there.
[00:03:17 --> 00:03:19] Being with Him now prepares us for being with Him
[00:03:19 --> 00:03:21] forever in heaven.
[00:03:21 --> 00:03:23] Isn't that so cool?
[00:03:23 --> 00:03:26] Other important things that happen at church are prayer.
[00:03:26 --> 00:03:28] People go there to pray,
[00:03:28 --> 00:03:30] which is having a conversation with Jesus.
[00:03:30 --> 00:03:33] There are many different ways to talk to Jesus.
[00:03:33 --> 00:03:36] Everyone has their own unique way.
[00:03:36 --> 00:03:38] Some common ways are reading scripture,
[00:03:38 --> 00:03:42] learning about the lives of saints, and praying the rosary.
[00:03:42 --> 00:03:44] There's also something called adoration,
[00:03:44 --> 00:03:47] which is when Jesus in the form of the Holy Eucharist
[00:03:47 --> 00:03:51] is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance.
[00:03:51 --> 00:03:54] The monstrance is placed at the front of the church
[00:03:54 --> 00:03:55] or in a special chapel,
[00:03:55 --> 00:03:59] and people come to have some peaceful time with Jesus.
[00:03:59 --> 00:04:01] It's like how you might sit quietly
[00:04:01 --> 00:04:03] with a good friend you really like.
[00:04:03 --> 00:04:06] While the church is a special place
[00:04:06 --> 00:04:08] and many special things happen inside of it,
[00:04:08 --> 00:04:11] the church also has special jobs.
[00:04:11 --> 00:04:13] The most important job of the church
[00:04:13 --> 00:04:16] is to administer the sacraments.
[00:04:16 --> 00:04:18] There are seven sacraments,
[00:04:18 --> 00:04:20] and all of them play an important role
[00:04:20 --> 00:04:21] in the life of the world.
[00:04:22 --> 00:04:26] Baptism, the Eucharist, confirmation, confession,
[00:04:26 --> 00:04:29] anointing of the sick, holy orders, and marriage.
[00:04:30 --> 00:04:33] Sometimes when people talk about the church,
[00:04:33 --> 00:04:34] they also mean us.
[00:04:34 --> 00:04:36] How is that possible?
[00:04:37 --> 00:04:40] While Jesus was still active in His ministry,
[00:04:40 --> 00:04:42] He appointed one of His closest friends
[00:04:42 --> 00:04:45] and followers to be the leader of the church.
[00:04:45 --> 00:04:47] This friend was named Saint Peter.
[00:04:47 --> 00:04:51] Saint Peter was the first Pope or a leader of the church.
[00:04:51 --> 00:04:54] From that point on, there has always been a Pope
[00:04:54 --> 00:04:57] anointed as leader of the church.
[00:04:57 --> 00:04:59] Jesus promised to give Saint Peter
[00:04:59 --> 00:05:00] the keys to the kingdom of heaven,
[00:05:00 --> 00:05:03] which means He wanted Saint Peter to watch over the church
[00:05:03 --> 00:05:05] until Jesus comes back.
[00:05:06 --> 00:05:08] Saint Paul, throughout his letters,
[00:05:08 --> 00:05:11] talks about the church as the body of Christ.
[00:05:11 --> 00:05:14] Jesus is like the head of the body,
[00:05:14 --> 00:05:16] in control and showing where it will go,
[00:05:16 --> 00:05:19] and each of us makes up a part of the body.
[00:05:19 --> 00:05:22] (gentle bright music)
[00:05:27 --> 00:05:29] Wow, that looks amazing.
[00:05:30 --> 00:05:31] At the end of the day,
[00:05:31 --> 00:05:33] the church isn't just a beautiful building
[00:05:33 --> 00:05:35] where we worship God.
[00:05:35 --> 00:05:37] The church is also you.
[00:05:37 --> 00:05:41] You are a member of Christ's body here on earth.
[00:05:41 --> 00:05:43] When you treat your siblings with kindness
[00:05:43 --> 00:05:45] or do something nice for your mom,
[00:05:45 --> 00:05:49] you are reflecting Jesus, just like we are all called to do.
[00:05:51 --> 00:05:53] Building this beautiful church was so fun.
[00:05:53 --> 00:05:56] We learned so much about what a church is,
[00:05:56 --> 00:05:58] who is part of the church,
[00:05:58 --> 00:06:00] and the important job that it has.
[00:06:00 --> 00:06:03] I can't wait to build more cool things with you.
[00:06:03 --> 00:06:05] Until next time, friends, bye.
[00:06:05 --> 00:06:07] Hi, friends, my name is Dilly,
[00:06:07 --> 00:06:08] and welcome to Juice Box.
[00:06:10 --> 00:06:11] Have you ever been to church
[00:06:11 --> 00:06:14] and noticed all the beautiful things inside?
[00:06:14 --> 00:06:17] (camera clicks)
[00:06:17 --> 00:06:19] Well, I thought it would be so fun
[00:06:19 --> 00:06:22] if we built some of them out of our magnetic tiles today.
[00:06:22 --> 00:06:23] Let's get started.
[00:06:23 --> 00:06:27] Juice Box. (giggles)
[00:06:27 --> 00:06:29] First, I'm building the church.
[00:06:29 --> 00:06:31] Not every church looks exactly the same,
[00:06:31 --> 00:06:34] but they do have a lot of similarities.
[00:06:36 --> 00:06:39] Traditionally, churches were built in a T-shape,
[00:06:39 --> 00:06:41] so it looks like a cross from above.
[00:06:44 --> 00:06:46] The long rectangular space
[00:06:46 --> 00:06:50] where everyone gathers for mass is called the nave,
[00:06:50 --> 00:06:52] and it represents the body of Christ.
[00:06:54 --> 00:06:57] That's all the people that love and serve God.
[00:06:57 --> 00:07:00] (gentle bright music)
[00:07:04 --> 00:07:07] The inside of churches feel really big
[00:07:07 --> 00:07:09] to remind us of the grandness of God.
[00:07:12 --> 00:07:15] They also have tall towers called steeples
[00:07:15 --> 00:07:17] to point towards heaven.
[00:07:17 --> 00:07:19] They remind us to look up to God.
[00:07:19 --> 00:07:22] (gentle bright music)
[00:07:39 --> 00:07:43] (gentle bright music continues)
[00:07:46 --> 00:07:48] One of the first things I noticed
[00:07:48 --> 00:07:52] inside the church was the beautiful colored windows
[00:07:52 --> 00:07:54] or stained glass windows.
[00:07:55 --> 00:07:58] Those windows usually show some kind of story from the Bible
[00:07:58 --> 00:08:00] or the story of a sea,
[00:08:00 --> 00:08:02] or has some kind of special symbolic meaning.
[00:08:04 --> 00:08:06] When I'm having trouble listening at mass,
[00:08:06 --> 00:08:08] I look at the windows and try to figure out
[00:08:08 --> 00:08:10] what story they're telling.
[00:08:10 --> 00:08:13] (gentle bright music)
[00:08:23 --> 00:08:26] One important stained glass window is the rose window.
[00:08:27 --> 00:08:30] The rose window is usually at the front of the church
[00:08:30 --> 00:08:33] above the altar, and it's made out of small windows
[00:08:33 --> 00:08:36] that make up one big circle window.
[00:08:37 --> 00:08:40] Sometimes it looks like it has flower petals.
[00:08:40 --> 00:08:43] I guess that's why it's called a rose window.
[00:08:43 --> 00:08:46] (gentle bright music)
[00:08:48 --> 00:08:50] One thing that's really hard to miss
[00:08:50 --> 00:08:52] at a church is the cross.
[00:08:52 --> 00:08:54] The cross is so important
[00:08:54 --> 00:08:57] because that's where Jesus suffered and died.
[00:08:57 --> 00:09:00] That may seem pretty scary and sad,
[00:09:00 --> 00:09:05] but it's how God showed all His people how much He loves us.
[00:09:05 --> 00:09:07] By doing that, our sins can be forgiven
[00:09:07 --> 00:09:09] and we can get to heaven.
[00:09:09 --> 00:09:13] (gentle bright music)
[00:09:17 --> 00:09:18] While looking around the church,
[00:09:18 --> 00:09:23] I also saw this picture of Jesus with His heart on fire.
[00:09:23 --> 00:09:25] That's called the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
[00:09:25 --> 00:09:28] It reminds us of how much Jesus loves us.
[00:09:28 --> 00:09:31] He loves us so much that His heart is flaming.
[00:09:31 --> 00:09:35] (gentle bright music)
[00:09:47 --> 00:09:49] One of the coolest looking things I saw
[00:09:49 --> 00:09:51] at church was the monstrance.
[00:09:51 --> 00:09:56] The monstrance is this big, fancy looking golden vessel.
[00:09:56 --> 00:09:59] In the middle, there's a consecrated host.
[00:09:59 --> 00:10:03] That means that the host inside is the real body of Jesus.
[00:10:07 --> 00:10:10] The monstrance is put out on the altar during adoration,
[00:10:10 --> 00:10:13] which is when we can go look at it and pray.
[00:10:13 --> 00:10:16] (gentle bright music)
[00:10:33 --> 00:10:37] (gentle bright music continues)
[00:10:43 --> 00:10:45] Thank you for building with me today.
[00:10:45 --> 00:10:48] I love looking around the church and finding cool things.
[00:10:49 --> 00:10:51] Next time you go, try to notice something new
[00:10:51 --> 00:10:54] and maybe even build it at home.
[00:10:54 --> 00:10:56] Until then, see you next time, friends.
[00:10:57 --> 00:10:59] Welcome to Juice Box,
[00:10:59 --> 00:11:02] where we love building and learning about the faith.
[00:11:02 --> 00:11:03] I invited one of my friends
[00:11:03 --> 00:11:06] to show us how he builds an altar out of Lego.
[00:11:06 --> 00:11:07] Hi, friends.
[00:11:07 --> 00:11:08] My name is Paul.
[00:11:08 --> 00:11:12] And today we're building this cool priest,
[00:11:12 --> 00:11:14] this tool in church.
[00:11:15 --> 00:11:17] We'll also tell you more about what's on the altar
[00:11:17 --> 00:11:19] and how it's used.
[00:11:19 --> 00:11:20] Take it away, friend.
[00:11:20 --> 00:11:23] Juice box. (giggles)
[00:11:23 --> 00:11:27] An altar in a Catholic church is like a special table
[00:11:27 --> 00:11:28] where really important things happen
[00:11:28 --> 00:11:31] during church services and masses.
[00:11:31 --> 00:11:33] It's kind of like the stage
[00:11:33 --> 00:11:35] where all the important action takes place.
[00:11:35 --> 00:11:38] Altars can look different in different churches.
[00:11:38 --> 00:11:40] Sometimes they're made of wood or stone.
[00:11:40 --> 00:11:43] Let's see what kind of altar our friend is building.
[00:11:43 --> 00:11:45] First, we get one of these.
[00:11:45 --> 00:11:49] This right here.
[00:11:50 --> 00:11:51] And right there.
[00:11:54 --> 00:11:55] There.
[00:11:55 --> 00:11:57] And right there.
[00:11:58 --> 00:12:01] (gentle bright music)
[00:12:05 --> 00:12:08] Hey, okay, there's the bread.
[00:12:08 --> 00:12:11] And this is the golden plate.
[00:12:11 --> 00:12:14] And then we'll get the bread out of the golden plate.
[00:12:14 --> 00:12:17] There are actually two important golden dishes
[00:12:17 --> 00:12:19] on the altar that have a similar job.
[00:12:19 --> 00:12:21] One is the paten.
[00:12:21 --> 00:12:23] That one looks like a golden plate.
[00:12:23 --> 00:12:25] The other is the ciborium.
[00:12:25 --> 00:12:27] That one looks more like a bowl.
[00:12:27 --> 00:12:29] Both the paten and the ciborium
[00:12:29 --> 00:12:31] are used to protect the consecrated hosts
[00:12:31 --> 00:12:33] called the Eucharist.
[00:12:33 --> 00:12:37] Because the hosts have become the real body of Jesus Christ,
[00:12:37 --> 00:12:40] it needs a special vessel to be placed in.
[00:12:40 --> 00:12:44] And you might see at church a book,
[00:12:44 --> 00:12:46] and that's a Bible.
[00:12:49 --> 00:12:54] And the Bibles tell the story of Jesus's life.
[00:12:55 --> 00:12:57] The Bible does tell the story
[00:12:57 --> 00:12:59] of Jesus's life in the New Testament.
[00:12:59 --> 00:13:02] During mass, we also read from the Old Testament
[00:13:02 --> 00:13:04] and from the Psalms.
[00:13:04 --> 00:13:06] Those are from a time before Jesus,
[00:13:06 --> 00:13:07] but if you listen closely,
[00:13:07 --> 00:13:11] it gives us clues about what Jesus would be like.
[00:13:11 --> 00:13:13] You might also see a big book on the altar
[00:13:13 --> 00:13:15] called the Roman Missal.
[00:13:15 --> 00:13:17] That contains all of the prayers
[00:13:17 --> 00:13:21] and instructions that the priest needs to celebrate mass.
[00:13:24 --> 00:13:25] Put it right here.
[00:13:25 --> 00:13:27] Yeah, right there.
[00:13:27 --> 00:13:31] And this is the chalice with the wine in it.
[00:13:31 --> 00:13:34] You might have seen like the wine
[00:13:34 --> 00:13:37] from our first communion episode.
[00:13:37 --> 00:13:40] And you've probably seen the priest.
[00:13:41 --> 00:13:44] You'll see him holding the bread.
[00:13:46 --> 00:13:49] During mass, the priest does something very special
[00:13:49 --> 00:13:52] with the bread and the wine in the chalice.
[00:13:52 --> 00:13:54] He turns them into Jesus's body
[00:13:54 --> 00:13:56] and blood with the help of God.
[00:13:56 --> 00:13:59] It's the most important part of mass.
[00:13:59 --> 00:14:01] When he lifts it up, that's when it happens.
[00:14:01 --> 00:14:02] So make sure you're paying attention
[00:14:02 --> 00:14:04] or else you might miss it.
[00:14:06 --> 00:14:07] You piece.
[00:14:08 --> 00:14:12] Okay, there's the priest and then the cross.
[00:14:14 --> 00:14:15] Okay.
[00:14:15 --> 00:14:16] Right here.
[00:14:16 --> 00:14:18] And right here.
[00:14:20 --> 00:14:22] Oh.
[00:14:22 --> 00:14:23] And in one,
[00:14:25 --> 00:14:25] two.
[00:14:25 --> 00:14:26] Push it in.
[00:14:26 --> 00:14:29] And you might see a couple candles.
[00:14:29 --> 00:14:31] One right there.
[00:14:31 --> 00:14:33] And candles here.
[00:14:37 --> 00:14:39] Besides just providing light,
[00:14:39 --> 00:14:42] the candles also have a special meaning.
[00:14:42 --> 00:14:46] Jesus is often called the light of the world.
[00:14:46 --> 00:14:49] So when you look at the candles up at the altar,
[00:14:49 --> 00:14:52] you can be reminded of Jesus who is always guiding us
[00:14:52 --> 00:14:55] and making everything in our life brighter.
[00:14:56 --> 00:14:57] And right here.
[00:14:59 --> 00:15:01] And there we go, my Juice Box friends.
[00:15:01 --> 00:15:03] There we have it.
[00:15:04 --> 00:15:07] And you could try to build one of these on your own.
[00:15:08 --> 00:15:10] Maybe if you have your own Legos.
[00:15:11 --> 00:15:13] Wow, that looks great.
[00:15:13 --> 00:15:16] I hope you all have fun building your own altars at home.
[00:15:16 --> 00:15:18] And the next time you're at church,
[00:15:18 --> 00:15:21] try to find all the items on the altar that we talked about
[00:15:21 --> 00:15:22] that the priest uses.
[00:15:22 --> 00:15:25] It can be like a fun game of I spy.
[00:15:25 --> 00:15:27] Well, until next time, builders.
[00:15:27 --> 00:15:28] Thanks for watching.
[00:15:28 --> 00:15:30] Smash that subscribe button.
[00:15:32 --> 00:15:34] Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
[00:15:34 --> 00:15:36] There are so many famous
[00:15:36 --> 00:15:39] and beautiful Catholic churches around the world,
[00:15:39 --> 00:15:44] but few are more famous than Notre Dame in Paris, France.
[00:15:44 --> 00:15:48] Besides being totally beautiful, it's also huge
[00:15:48 --> 00:15:50] and so old.
[00:15:50 --> 00:15:54] Imagine knights, kings, and emperors being in the cathedral.
[00:15:54 --> 00:15:56] That's how old it is.
[00:15:56 --> 00:15:58] Well, let's learn more about the Notre Dame
[00:15:58 --> 00:16:01] while building a replica out of Lego.
[00:16:02 --> 00:16:04] Juice Box. (giggles)
[00:16:04 --> 00:16:09] The story of Notre Dame began in the year 1163
[00:16:09 --> 00:16:11] when it began being built.
[00:16:11 --> 00:16:14] That means it's over 850 years old.
[00:16:14 --> 00:16:17] The French people wanted to build a beautiful place
[00:16:17 --> 00:16:18] to worship God.
[00:16:21 --> 00:16:24] Notre Dame means our lady in French.
[00:16:24 --> 00:16:27] And so the cathedral was also a way to honor Mary,
[00:16:27 --> 00:16:29] the mother of Jesus.
[00:16:31 --> 00:16:34] Notre Dame took almost 200 years to build.
[00:16:34 --> 00:16:37] That's a long time to build something.
[00:16:37 --> 00:16:38] But during the Middle Ages,
[00:16:38 --> 00:16:40] they didn't have all the construction methods
[00:16:40 --> 00:16:44] that we do today, and building was really slow.
[00:16:44 --> 00:16:46] They didn't have trucks or cranes,
[00:16:46 --> 00:16:48] fancy machines or computers.
[00:16:48 --> 00:16:51] They had to cut every stone by hand.
[00:16:51 --> 00:16:52] Can you imagine?
[00:16:55 --> 00:16:59] The architecture of the Notre Dame is also very complex.
[00:16:59 --> 00:17:01] It's an example of gothic architecture,
[00:17:01 --> 00:17:05] which means it has tall towers, pointy arches,
[00:17:05 --> 00:17:07] big, beautiful stained glass windows
[00:17:07 --> 00:17:10] and complex carvings like gargoyles.
[00:17:10 --> 00:17:14] All of these details took a long time to perfect and build.
[00:17:15 --> 00:17:16] One of the most famous parts
[00:17:16 --> 00:17:20] of the Notre Dame Cathedral is the stained glass windows.
[00:17:20 --> 00:17:22] The round windows are called rose windows
[00:17:22 --> 00:17:25] because it looks like they have petals.
[00:17:25 --> 00:17:27] From the outside, they look pretty plain.
[00:17:27 --> 00:17:29] But from the inside, you can see the windows
[00:17:29 --> 00:17:33] are made out of colorful glass, like a giant rainbow.
[00:17:34 --> 00:17:36] When the sun shines through,
[00:17:36 --> 00:17:38] the colors light up inside of the cathedral,
[00:17:38 --> 00:17:41] making it look magical and reminding us of heaven.
[00:17:42 --> 00:17:46] The pictures in the rose window tell stories from the Bible.
[00:17:46 --> 00:17:49] It's like a giant, colorful comic book made of glass.
[00:17:49 --> 00:17:52] People who couldn't read back then could look at the window
[00:17:52 --> 00:17:54] to learn about the stories of God.
[00:17:55 --> 00:17:58] But Notre Dame has seen some dark days.
[00:17:58 --> 00:18:02] After the French Revolution, the cathedral was destroyed.
[00:18:02 --> 00:18:05] Lots of important, beautiful items were stolen.
[00:18:05 --> 00:18:07] The windows were shattered.
[00:18:07 --> 00:18:10] Statues were taken down and their heads broken off,
[00:18:10 --> 00:18:11] and no one was allowed
[00:18:11 --> 00:18:14] to practice their Catholic faith anymore.
[00:18:14 --> 00:18:15] How sad?
[00:18:17 --> 00:18:20] For many years, the Notre Dame was left in this mess,
[00:18:20 --> 00:18:22] but times got better eventually.
[00:18:24 --> 00:18:29] In 1831, a man named Victor Hugo wrote a story
[00:18:29 --> 00:18:31] called "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
[00:18:31 --> 00:18:33] You might've seen the movie.
[00:18:34 --> 00:18:36] The story was about a kind
[00:18:36 --> 00:18:38] and lonely bell ringer who lived in the cathedral.
[00:18:40 --> 00:18:42] The story was very popular,
[00:18:42 --> 00:18:45] and it made people realize how special the Notre Dame was.
[00:18:46 --> 00:18:48] People wanted to take care of the cathedral,
[00:18:48 --> 00:18:50] and they started restoring it
[00:18:50 --> 00:18:52] and trying to make it beautiful again.
[00:18:53 --> 00:18:56] (gentle cheerful music)
[00:19:13 --> 00:19:17] (gentle cheerful music continues)
[00:19:31 --> 00:19:33] (gentle pensive music)
[00:19:33 --> 00:19:37] In 2019, there was a big fire at the Notre Dame.
[00:19:37 --> 00:19:40] Beret firefighters worked very hard to save it,
[00:19:40 --> 00:19:42] but a lot of it was burned.
[00:19:43 --> 00:19:45] Thankfully, people from all around the world
[00:19:45 --> 00:19:47] are helping to fix and rebuild it.
[00:19:48 --> 00:19:50] People can return to witness
[00:19:50 --> 00:19:52] one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world.
[00:19:52 --> 00:19:55] They can return to pray, celebrate mass,
[00:19:55 --> 00:19:58] and light candles for their loved ones.
[00:19:58 --> 00:20:01] I loved learning about the Notre Dame Cathedral
[00:20:01 --> 00:20:03] and building this Lego version with you.
[00:20:03 --> 00:20:06] Maybe one day you can go see it yourself.
[00:20:06 --> 00:20:10] The cathedral reminds us of the beauty of God and His glory.
[00:20:10 --> 00:20:11] I hope you had fun.
[00:20:11 --> 00:20:13] And don't forget to subscribe to the channel
[00:20:13 --> 00:20:14] for more fun videos.
[00:20:14 --> 00:20:16] See you next time, friends.
[00:20:16 --> 00:20:17] Bye.
[00:20:17 --> 00:20:18] Hi, friends.
[00:20:18 --> 00:20:20] Do you know the alphabet?
[00:20:21 --> 00:20:22] I have a fun poem
[00:20:22 --> 00:20:24] and these letter blocks that can help us
[00:20:24 --> 00:20:25] learn all the letters.
[00:20:25 --> 00:20:27] Let's go.
[00:20:27 --> 00:20:30] Juice Box. (giggles)
[00:20:30 --> 00:20:33] In a world of wonder, let's take a stroll.
[00:20:33 --> 00:20:36] With youthful hearts, pure and whole,
[00:20:36 --> 00:20:40] through the ABCs will joyfully roam,
[00:20:40 --> 00:20:43] discovering God's love our heavenly home.
[00:20:45 --> 00:20:49] A is for altar, where blessings commence.
[00:20:49 --> 00:20:53] Adorned with candles, sacred and immense.
[00:20:55 --> 00:20:59] B is for Bible, wisdom, divine.
[00:20:59 --> 00:21:02] Revealing God's love in every line.
[00:21:05 --> 00:21:09] C is for cross, our redemption's embrace.
[00:21:09 --> 00:21:13] Christ's sacrifice bestowing saving grace.
[00:21:14 --> 00:21:18] D, the disciples who followed with glee.
[00:21:18 --> 00:21:21] Learning from Christ so full of mercy.
[00:21:22 --> 00:21:24] E stands for Eucharist.
[00:21:24 --> 00:21:29] Bread and wine transformed to Christ, a miracle divine.
[00:21:31 --> 00:21:34] F, the fish, a sign we hold dear
[00:21:34 --> 00:21:37] as Jesus called His apostles near.
[00:21:38 --> 00:21:40] G is for God, our father above.
[00:21:40 --> 00:21:44] He watches us always with infinite love.
[00:21:45 --> 00:21:48] H for Holy Spirit, a comforting dove.
[00:21:48 --> 00:21:51] Guiding us gently with gifts from above.
[00:21:55 --> 00:21:56] I is for incense.
[00:21:56 --> 00:21:58] It's fragrance so sweet.
[00:21:58 --> 00:22:02] Lifting our prayers to God's heavenly seat.
[00:22:03 --> 00:22:07] J, the joy that Jesus brings,
[00:22:07 --> 00:22:10] filling our hearts with wonderful things.
[00:22:12 --> 00:22:14] K is for keys,
[00:22:14 --> 00:22:18] given to Peter, our first ever Pope, the church's leader.
[00:22:19 --> 00:22:22] L, the liturgy, our worship so pure.
[00:22:22 --> 00:22:25] Sacraments cherished and reverence secure.
[00:22:28 --> 00:22:31] M, the mass where heaven meets earth.
[00:22:31 --> 00:22:34] God's presence revealed in glorious birth.
[00:22:38 --> 00:22:40] N, for Noah, the ark he built.
[00:22:40 --> 00:22:44] As God's promise of love, His plans was fulfilled.
[00:22:47 --> 00:22:51] O is Our Father, a prayer we adore,
[00:22:51 --> 00:22:54] taught by Jesus to love Him even more.
[00:22:54 --> 00:22:57] P is for Pope, our shepherd and guide,
[00:22:57 --> 00:23:00] leading us with love in every stride.
[00:23:03 --> 00:23:07] Q stands for queen, our blessed Mary.
[00:23:07 --> 00:23:10] To heaven above our prayers she will carry.
[00:23:13 --> 00:23:16] R for the rosary, beads in hand.
[00:23:16 --> 00:23:19] Pondering the mysteries, powerful and grand.
[00:23:21 --> 00:23:24] S is for saints, so holy and wise,
[00:23:24 --> 00:23:27] guiding us towards God up to the skies.
[00:23:29 --> 00:23:33] T, the Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
[00:23:33 --> 00:23:36] Wherever we pray, God can always hear it.
[00:23:37 --> 00:23:40] U is for unity, together we stand,
[00:23:40 --> 00:23:43] in God's family hand in hand.
[00:23:44 --> 00:23:48] V for the vine, Jesus, so true.
[00:23:48 --> 00:23:50] In His love will always renew.
[00:23:52 --> 00:23:55] W is for water, baptism's embrace.
[00:23:55 --> 00:23:58] Made children of God through love and grace.
[00:24:00 --> 00:24:03] X the Chi Rho, Christ and glam fold.
[00:24:03 --> 00:24:06] Victoria's symbol, His stories are told.
[00:24:06 --> 00:24:10] Y is for yes, like Mary will say,
[00:24:10 --> 00:24:12] to God's plan will follow His way.
[00:24:14 --> 00:24:19] Z, zeal for souls, our mission, our call,
[00:24:19 --> 00:24:23] to share God's love as we give it our all.
[00:24:25 --> 00:24:28] In this Catholic adventure, our faith will ignite.
[00:24:28 --> 00:24:32] With each letter will walk in God's light.
[00:24:32 --> 00:24:35] Out in the world, His truth will proclaim.
[00:24:35 --> 00:24:38] In God's love will forever remain.
[00:24:40 --> 00:24:42] Juice Box.
[00:24:42 --> 00:24:43] What is church?
[00:24:43 --> 00:24:45] People read the Bible.
[00:24:45 --> 00:24:47] My whole family does these sorts.
[00:24:47 --> 00:24:49] Well, we can find candles.
[00:24:49 --> 00:24:50] We can find lots of stuff.
[00:24:50 --> 00:24:51] There's an altar.
[00:24:51 --> 00:24:54] I like looking at the woody window.
[00:24:54 --> 00:24:57] Church is where God's family comes together.
[00:24:57 --> 00:24:59] Today, we're gonna build a church.
[00:24:59 --> 00:25:01] It's not like a real church,
[00:25:01 --> 00:25:02] but it's gonna be kind of like a church.
[00:25:02 --> 00:25:04] Let's play church.
[00:25:04 --> 00:25:07] Juice Box. (giggles)
[00:25:07 --> 00:25:08] Today I'm gonna show you
[00:25:08 --> 00:25:10] some of the things that are at church.
[00:25:10 --> 00:25:14] Let's start out popping out these little felt people.
[00:25:14 --> 00:25:17] (bright music)
[00:25:20 --> 00:25:22] Let's pretend we're going to mass.
[00:25:24 --> 00:25:26] I'm gonna put it right here.
[00:25:27 --> 00:25:28] The altar.
[00:25:28 --> 00:25:30] The altar is one of the most important places
[00:25:30 --> 00:25:31] in the church.
[00:25:31 --> 00:25:34] At mass, the priest celebrates the Eucharist there.
[00:25:34 --> 00:25:36] The priest...
[00:25:36 --> 00:25:37] Hello!
[00:25:39 --> 00:25:40] Do stuff.
[00:25:40 --> 00:25:43] The priest teaches us things.
[00:25:43 --> 00:25:46] They wear different colors for different seasons,
[00:25:46 --> 00:25:48] like ordinary time used for green.
[00:25:50 --> 00:25:52] He wears purple during lent.
[00:25:53 --> 00:25:55] White.
[00:25:55 --> 00:25:58] (bright music)
[00:26:01 --> 00:26:03] The cross reminds us how much Jesus loves us.
[00:26:03 --> 00:26:06] I'm gonna put the choir with the organ.
[00:26:06 --> 00:26:08] Singing helps us pray.
[00:26:08 --> 00:26:11] There always needs to be a chair for the priest.
[00:26:11 --> 00:26:13] Oh, where is that?
[00:26:13 --> 00:26:15] I'm gonna put that right there.
[00:26:15 --> 00:26:17] One of the most special things that happens
[00:26:17 --> 00:26:19] at church is the mass.
[00:26:19 --> 00:26:23] At mass, we gather together, pray together, sing together,
[00:26:23 --> 00:26:25] and listen to God's word in the Bible.
[00:26:27 --> 00:26:30] Now let's do where they speak.
[00:26:30 --> 00:26:31] Yeah, ambo.
[00:26:31 --> 00:26:34] They talk from the Bible.
[00:26:34 --> 00:26:36] (bright music)
[00:26:38 --> 00:26:41] Now let's put the tabernacle,
[00:26:41 --> 00:26:42] Jesus's body.
[00:26:44 --> 00:26:46] Let's do the windows.
[00:26:46 --> 00:26:47] A window.
[00:26:48 --> 00:26:49] Here.
[00:26:49 --> 00:26:51] I think this is a good place.
[00:26:52 --> 00:26:56] Then we come to the most special part, the Eucharist.
[00:26:56 --> 00:26:57] In the Eucharist,
[00:26:57 --> 00:27:01] Jesus comes to us in a very real and special way.
[00:27:01 --> 00:27:04] (gentle uplifting music)
[00:27:12 --> 00:27:15] (indistinct chatter)
[00:27:15 --> 00:27:18] At mass, all of us come together.
[00:27:18 --> 00:27:20] Moms, dads, babies, kids,
[00:27:20 --> 00:27:22] we all belong there.
[00:27:23 --> 00:27:25] Not just grown ups go to church.
[00:27:25 --> 00:27:27] Kids go to church too.
[00:27:27 --> 00:27:28] The people remind us
[00:27:28 --> 00:27:30] that church is not just a building.
[00:27:30 --> 00:27:33] Church is God's family gathered together.
[00:27:37 --> 00:27:39] I think God likes it when we go to church.
[00:27:39 --> 00:27:42] The baptism fountain.
[00:27:42 --> 00:27:43] Mass isn't the only beautiful thing
[00:27:43 --> 00:27:45] that happens at church.
[00:27:45 --> 00:27:47] At church, babies can be baptized
[00:27:47 --> 00:27:49] and welcomed into God's family.
[00:27:49 --> 00:27:52] People can come quietly to pray
[00:27:52 --> 00:27:54] or spend time with Jesus in adoration.
[00:27:54 --> 00:27:57] People can receive forgiveness and confession.
[00:27:57 --> 00:27:59] And sometimes families
[00:27:59 --> 00:28:02] and friends gather to celebrate weddings, feast days,
[00:28:02 --> 00:28:03] and other joyful moments too.
[00:28:07 --> 00:28:11] Church is God's house, but it's also our home.
[00:28:11 --> 00:28:14] It's a place where we meet Jesus, grow in faith,
[00:28:14 --> 00:28:16] and belong to God's family.
[00:28:16 --> 00:28:17] Church is awesome.
[00:28:17 --> 00:28:19] What kind of church story would you make?
[00:28:19 --> 00:28:20] Bye, friends.
[00:28:20 --> 00:28:21] See you next time.
[00:28:21 --> 00:28:23] Make sure to check the description
[00:28:23 --> 00:28:26] to see where you can get your own church board.
[00:28:26 --> 00:28:27] And don't forget to subscribe
[00:28:27 --> 00:28:29] for more videos from Juice Box.
[00:28:29 --> 00:28:31] Hi, friends, welcome to Juice Box.
[00:28:31 --> 00:28:33] Today, I'm gonna show you
[00:28:33 --> 00:28:37] how to turn this Viking Village into this, church.
[00:28:38 --> 00:28:41] All you need is a couple extra pieces like this cross.
[00:28:41 --> 00:28:43] Let me show you how.
[00:28:43 --> 00:28:46] Juice Box. (giggles)
[00:28:47 --> 00:28:49] (toys rustles)
[00:28:50 --> 00:28:54] We're gonna use this for the opening area in the church.
[00:28:56 --> 00:28:58] Why build this church?
[00:28:58 --> 00:29:00] A long time ago,
[00:29:00 --> 00:29:04] my dad said he wants to build a Lego church set.
[00:29:04 --> 00:29:09] He took me to the Lego store and we saw this.
[00:29:09 --> 00:29:10] We got this one.
[00:29:10 --> 00:29:14] And then he told me to build a Lego church.
[00:29:14 --> 00:29:17] There's three parts to the village,
[00:29:17 --> 00:29:18] and then there's a middle part.
[00:29:18 --> 00:29:21] And I said, "I'll build the middle part,
[00:29:21 --> 00:29:26] and then I'll change it into a church on the inside
[00:29:26 --> 00:29:30] and maybe I would change it on the outside a little."
[00:29:30 --> 00:29:35] I'm grabbing the water for the dock part of the church.
[00:29:36 --> 00:29:41] I'm building this side right here in the dock area here.
[00:29:43 --> 00:29:45] What do you know about Vikings?
[00:29:45 --> 00:29:48] The Vikings were alive in the 700s.
[00:29:49 --> 00:29:53] The word Viking comes from an old language
[00:29:53 --> 00:29:55] called Pirate Ray.
[00:29:55 --> 00:29:58] The Vikings came from Norway.
[00:29:58 --> 00:30:01] They had funny hats.
[00:30:01 --> 00:30:02] Yeah, cool shapes.
[00:30:03 --> 00:30:06] Were Vikings good guys or bad guys?
[00:30:06 --> 00:30:08] Bad guys.
[00:30:08 --> 00:30:12] Vikings went around on their boats and stole from villages.
[00:30:12 --> 00:30:17] So I'm building the base where there's gonna be rocks.
[00:30:17 --> 00:30:21] It's gonna look rocky once I start building up.
[00:30:21 --> 00:30:24] What did Vikings look like?
[00:30:24 --> 00:30:27] They looked kinda like pirates
[00:30:27 --> 00:30:31] and some had big beards.
[00:30:31 --> 00:30:35] Now we're basically building the walls.
[00:30:35 --> 00:30:39] (dramatic uplifting music)
[00:30:39 --> 00:30:41] Did Vikings have any churches?
[00:30:41 --> 00:30:44] The Vikings rode around in different villages,
[00:30:44 --> 00:30:46] and some of the villages had monks.
[00:30:46 --> 00:30:50] And when the Vikings tried to steal from the monks,
[00:30:50 --> 00:30:52] the monks told them about Jesus.
[00:30:52 --> 00:30:55] And that's how Vikings learned about Christianity.
[00:30:55 --> 00:30:57] Once they learned about Jesus,
[00:30:57 --> 00:31:01] they started to build churches like this one.
[00:31:01 --> 00:31:05] Now we're using bag number five to mostly build the wall.
[00:31:06 --> 00:31:09] You're gonna build the wall separately sometimes,
[00:31:09 --> 00:31:11] so we're building these little pieces
[00:31:11 --> 00:31:13] that will help the wall click in.
[00:31:13 --> 00:31:16] Are there any Viking saints?
[00:31:16 --> 00:31:19] There's a Viking saint called Saint Olaf,
[00:31:19 --> 00:31:21] but not like the snowman.
[00:31:21 --> 00:31:23] He was a Viking warrior.
[00:31:23 --> 00:31:25] He became a Christian king.
[00:31:25 --> 00:31:28] Saint Olaf worked really hard to bring Christianity
[00:31:28 --> 00:31:29] to his people.
[00:31:29 --> 00:31:33] Even though it wasn't easy, he ended up dying for his faith.
[00:31:33 --> 00:31:35] That makes him a martyr.
[00:31:35 --> 00:31:39] I'm building this chair part
[00:31:39 --> 00:31:42] and I'm putting the tiny circles there
[00:31:42 --> 00:31:46] so the priest could click in.
[00:31:46 --> 00:31:50] Right now I'm building the back wall.
[00:31:50 --> 00:31:53] (dramatic uplifting music)
[00:31:55 --> 00:31:56] Joke Time!
[00:31:56 --> 00:31:58] Wanna hear Viking joke?
[00:31:58 --> 00:32:01] Nevermind, there's Norway you'll get it.
[00:32:01 --> 00:32:02] (laughs)
[00:32:02 --> 00:32:04] What is a Viking's favorite sea creature?
[00:32:04 --> 00:32:06] A swordfish.
[00:32:06 --> 00:32:07] (laughs)
[00:32:07 --> 00:32:10] (uplifting music)
[00:32:12 --> 00:32:14] These pieces are rounded,
[00:32:14 --> 00:32:18] so it looks like we built the church from logs,
[00:32:18 --> 00:32:19] just like the Vikings would have.
[00:32:19 --> 00:32:21] We have to finish this wall
[00:32:21 --> 00:32:25] and then we have to build the doors and the roof.
[00:32:25 --> 00:32:29] Now we're building one of the details on the sides.
[00:32:29 --> 00:32:31] (uplifting music)
[00:32:32 --> 00:32:36] Now we're building the pointy areas here
[00:32:36 --> 00:32:39] when we lay down the roof on it.
[00:32:39 --> 00:32:41] (uplifting music)
[00:32:41 --> 00:32:45] In the church, these pointy bits are called steeples.
[00:32:45 --> 00:32:47] Now I'm building the door.
[00:32:47 --> 00:32:50] Doors are important so you keep the cold air out.
[00:32:50 --> 00:32:53] And Vikings lived in a cold place.
[00:32:53 --> 00:32:56] Right now we're building the roof.
[00:32:56 --> 00:32:59] And I'm gonna connect this one to this one.
[00:33:01 --> 00:33:04] And then I'm putting it at the top.
[00:33:04 --> 00:33:07] So there's gonna be a cross at the top
[00:33:07 --> 00:33:10] so people know it's a church.
[00:33:10 --> 00:33:12] What type of churches have you seen before?
[00:33:12 --> 00:33:16] I've seen lots of different types of churches.
[00:33:16 --> 00:33:19] I've seen big ones and small ones
[00:33:19 --> 00:33:21] and medium sized ones.
[00:33:22 --> 00:33:26] The big churches have giant crosses and organs.
[00:33:26 --> 00:33:29] This one's gonna be a little church.
[00:33:29 --> 00:33:33] Churches in Viking villages would have been small at first
[00:33:33 --> 00:33:36] because the Vikings were just learning about Jesus.
[00:33:36 --> 00:33:38] Here's one half the roof done.
[00:33:38 --> 00:33:41] Here's some pretty designs on the side.
[00:33:43 --> 00:33:45] We are taking this,
[00:33:45 --> 00:33:48] laying it on there until it like clicks in,
[00:33:48 --> 00:33:51] and then you could take it on and off.
[00:33:51 --> 00:33:54] (dramatic uplifting music)
[00:33:54 --> 00:33:56] We know that it's a Viking church
[00:33:56 --> 00:34:00] because there's these markings and it's by the water.
[00:34:00 --> 00:34:05] Here is the dock where they could put their boats.
[00:34:05 --> 00:34:08] Here are the doors.
[00:34:08 --> 00:34:09] And it's probably during winter
[00:34:09 --> 00:34:12] because there's like some snow here,
[00:34:12 --> 00:34:15] some snow here, and some snow here.
[00:34:15 --> 00:34:20] We added the water, the wine, and the body of Christ,
[00:34:21 --> 00:34:22] and we put a priest.
[00:34:22 --> 00:34:25] Now the Vikings could go to church.
[00:34:25 --> 00:34:27] "Have you heard about Jesus?
[00:34:27 --> 00:34:29] He preaches love and peace,
[00:34:29 --> 00:34:31] not fighting and violence.
[00:34:31 --> 00:34:33] Come join me for church."
[00:34:33 --> 00:34:36] (dramatic uplifting music)
[00:34:36 --> 00:34:40] Even people who do bad things could turn their lives around
[00:34:40 --> 00:34:43] with God's help, just like the Christian Vikings.
[00:34:43 --> 00:34:44] Thanks for watching.
[00:34:44 --> 00:34:48] Don't forget to like and subscribe for more videos.
[00:34:48 --> 00:34:49] See you next time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What Are the Sacraments of Initiation?

The three Sacraments of Christian Initiation are:

Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.

Together, these sacraments lay the foundation of Christian life.

Baptism begins new life in Christ. Confirmation strengthens baptismal grace through the Holy Spirit. The Eucharist nourishes us with Christ himself.

What Are the Sacraments of Healing?

The two Sacraments of Healing are:

Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.

Reconciliation brings Christ’s forgiveness and heals the wounds caused by sin.

Anointing of the Sick brings Christ’s strength, peace, and grace to those experiencing serious illness or the difficulties of old age.

What Are the Sacraments of Service?

Matrimony and Holy Orders are often called the sacraments at the service of communion and mission.

Both involve giving one’s life in service.

In Matrimony, husband and wife give themselves to one another and serve their family.

In Holy Orders, bishops, priests, and deacons are ordained for service to Christ and his Church.

Why Did Jesus Give Us the Sacraments?

Christ instituted the sacraments and entrusted their celebration to the Church.

God knows that human beings experience the world through our bodies and senses.

That is why the sacraments use visible things such as water, oil, bread and wine, spoken words, touch, and human relationships.

Through these visible signs, Christ truly acts and gives grace.

That is the thread connecting every video in this compilation: what Jesus began during his earthly ministry continues in the sacramental life of his Church.

What is a sacrament for kids?

A sacrament is a visible sign through which Jesus gives us grace.

Sacraments use things we can experience, such as water, oil, words, bread and wine, and the laying on of hands, while Christ works invisibly through them.

Is the Eucharist really Jesus?

Yes.

Catholics believe that after the consecration at Mass, Jesus Christ is truly, really, and substantially present under the appearances of bread and wine.

This is why the Eucharist is at the heart of Catholic life.

What happens during Confession/Reconciliation?

During Confession, a Catholic confesses his or her sins to a priest, expresses sorrow for sin, receives a penance, and receives absolution.

Through the sacrament, Christ forgives sins and reconciles the person with God and the Church.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Explained for Kids

In this special Juice Box video collection for children, kids learn that the Sacred Heart is not just a picture. Sacred images are meant to awaken and nourish faith in the mystery of Christ, so that through them we are drawn to the One whom we adore.

This Catholic kids video collection helps children learn about the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Margaret Mary, Divine Mercy, Confession, Corpus Christi, and the Eucharist. Each video points back to one central truth: Jesus loves every person with a merciful, pierced, redeeming Heart, and He calls us to come closer to Him through prayer, the sacraments, and conversion.

Sacred Heart of Jesus for Kids: What Does the Sacred Heart Mean?

The Sacred Heart of Jesus helps children understand that Jesus’ love is real, personal, merciful, and sacrificial. It is not simply a symbol of kindness or a comforting religious image. It points us to the living Christ, who loves us, suffers for us, forgives us, and draws us back to the Father.

Many Sacred Heart images include flames, thorns, and a cross.

The flames call to mind Christ’s burning charity. His love is not cold, distant, or passive. It is alive and full of mercy.

The thorns point to the suffering Jesus endured out of love. They remind children that Jesus’ love is not shallow. He truly gave Himself for us.

The cross reminds us that His love is most clearly revealed in the Passion, and that His self-gift brings us back to God.

For kids, the Sacred Heart can be explained simply: Jesus loves you with His whole Heart. His Heart is full of mercy, and He wants you to stay close to Him.

How the Sacred Heart Connects to Confession and the Eucharist

The Sacred Heart devotion should lead us to live as Christ’s disciples, especially through the sacraments.

The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life,” containing and expressing the fullness of Christian prayer and drawing us into communion with God. When children learn about the Sacred Heart, they are also learning that Jesus does not love us from far away. He gives Himself to us and invites us into communion with Him.

Jesus also calls us to conversion. The Sacrament of Penance, also called Confession, restores us to God’s grace and reconciles us with Him in intimate friendship. Those who receive it with repentance receive pardon from God’s mercy and are strengthened by spiritual consolation.

This is why Confession is not something children need to see only as scary or embarrassing. It is a gift of mercy. Through Confession, Jesus welcomes us back and helps us begin again.

St. Margaret Mary for Kids and the Living Devotion

Kids also learn about St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, whom Christ chose to help spread devotion to His Sacred Heart, including special devotion tied to the first Fridays.

St. Margaret Mary’s story helps children see that devotion to the Sacred Heart is not only something from a prayer card or a church window. It is a living invitation to love Jesus, trust Him, receive Him, and respond to His mercy. Through her witness, children can learn that saints are real people who listened to Jesus and helped others come closer to Him.

Divine Mercy, Trust, and Coming Closer to Jesus

This collection also connects the Sacred Heart to Divine Mercy, because God’s mercy is meant to heal and renew hearts.

St. Faustina’s writings describe Christ sending her to proclaim His message of mercy and to exhort souls to trust in His merciful Heart. For children, this connection can be explained simply: Jesus wants us to trust Him. His mercy is greater than our sins, fears, and failures.

Divine Mercy helps children see that Jesus does not only love us when we are perfect. He calls us to come close, ask for forgiveness, and trust His Heart.

A Devotion That Supports the Church’s Worship

This video is designed to help children pray and grow in love for Jesus, while keeping the right order.

Popular devotions are valuable and spiritually fruitful when they are grounded in Scripture and Tradition and harmonized with the liturgy, which is the Church’s supreme act of worship.

That means devotion to the Sacred Heart should never replace the Mass, the Eucharist, Confession, or the life of the Church. Instead, it should help children and families love Jesus more deeply and participate more fully in the Church’s worship.

Children will learn that Confession is a gift of mercy and that the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The Sacred Heart points them toward Jesus, who forgives, heals, nourishes, and draws us into communion with God.

By the end, children are invited to remember one central truth: Jesus loves every person with a merciful, pierced, redeeming Heart, and He calls us to come closer to Him through prayer, the sacraments, and conversion.

[00:00:00 --> 00:00:01] June is a special month.
[00:00:01 --> 00:00:04] When we remember the sacred heart of Jesus,
[00:00:04 --> 00:00:08] his heart reminds us how much he loves us, forgives us,
[00:00:08 --> 00:00:11] and wants us to be close to him.
[00:00:11 --> 00:00:14] But where did this beautiful devotion come from?
[00:00:14 --> 00:00:15] Let's hear the story of St.
[00:00:15 --> 00:00:19] Margaret Mary and build the sacred heart together.
[00:00:19 --> 00:00:20] Whoa, look at this heart.
[00:00:20 --> 00:00:24] It has flames, thorns, and a cross on top.
[00:00:24 --> 00:00:28] That's not just any heart. That's the sacred heart of Jesus.
[00:00:28 --> 00:00:30] A long time ago, Jesus showed his heart
[00:00:30 --> 00:00:32] to a sister named Margaret Mary so
[00:00:32 --> 00:00:34] that she can tell the whole world
[00:00:34 --> 00:00:37] that his heart is burning with love for us.
[00:00:37 --> 00:00:40] So listen close because this story begins with a heartbeat.
[00:00:40 --> 00:00:41] Juice bark
[00:00:49 --> 00:00:50] The beating heart.
[00:00:53 --> 00:00:54] Sister Margaret. Mary breathed in
[00:00:55 --> 00:00:59] and out deeply with each breath.
[00:00:59 --> 00:01:01] She felt like she was breathing out all
[00:01:01 --> 00:01:03] of her anxieties and troubles.
[00:01:04 --> 00:01:07] Here. She did not have to worry about anything.
[00:01:08 --> 00:01:12] Here she could be seen as she truly was.
[00:01:13 --> 00:01:16] Every time she had the impulse to move,
[00:01:16 --> 00:01:20] she took another deep breath and relaxed herself even more.
[00:01:22 --> 00:01:26] She listened to the comforting sound of his heartbeat.
[00:01:26 --> 00:01:28] With each beat, she could sense
[00:01:28 --> 00:01:31] how much love was in his heart.
[00:01:31 --> 00:01:32] So much love
[00:01:32 --> 00:01:37] that she sensed an aching Margaret.
[00:01:37 --> 00:01:40] Mary gently looked up at the face of Jesus
[00:01:40 --> 00:01:44] and considered what a gift it was to rest upon his heart.
[00:01:46 --> 00:01:48] After Jesus departed from her sister,
[00:01:48 --> 00:01:52] Margaret Mary sat in the chapel staring at the tabernacle.
[00:01:52 --> 00:01:57] For a long time, she had no thoughts or words,
[00:01:57 --> 00:02:00] but lost herself in a gaze of love.
[00:02:00 --> 00:02:03] She heard a door behind her creak open,
[00:02:03 --> 00:02:05] but she couldn't bring herself
[00:02:05 --> 00:02:06] to look away from the tabernacle.
[00:02:07 --> 00:02:09] Though she could hear the clamor
[00:02:09 --> 00:02:11] of somebody entering the chapel
[00:02:11 --> 00:02:15] and sitting down, she was not taken from her gaze.
[00:02:16 --> 00:02:19] After a long time, she quietly stood up.
[00:02:19 --> 00:02:21] Jen deflected to the tabernacle
[00:02:21 --> 00:02:24] and walked to the back of the chapel and out the door.
[00:02:25 --> 00:02:28] She turned right and walked on a long dark
[00:02:28 --> 00:02:29] hallway towards her cell.
[00:02:29 --> 00:02:33] She passed two of her fellow sisters and they waved to her,
[00:02:33 --> 00:02:36] but she did not even perceive them.
[00:02:36 --> 00:02:39] Her heart was still in the chapel with Jesus.
[00:02:39 --> 00:02:42] She approached her cell, opened the door and empty.
[00:02:43 --> 00:02:45] The room was dark.
[00:02:45 --> 00:02:46] She closed her eyes
[00:02:46 --> 00:02:48] and held them tight so that they could adjust.
[00:02:49 --> 00:02:52] When she opened her eyes, she could see only the figure
[00:02:52 --> 00:02:53] of items in her room
[00:02:54 --> 00:02:57] and she began to feel around for her nightstand drawer.
[00:02:57 --> 00:03:00] She felt the drawer opened it
[00:03:00 --> 00:03:02] and pulled out a container of matches.
[00:03:02 --> 00:03:05] She struck one of the matches and lit her candle.
[00:03:05 --> 00:03:09] The room was illuminated with soft, warm light
[00:03:09 --> 00:03:10] and she could see her shadow on the wall.
[00:03:11 --> 00:03:14] She saw the paper and pencil she had been drawing with
[00:03:14 --> 00:03:17] before, still sitting on her bed and she took it.
[00:03:19 --> 00:03:23] She sat down in her chair and continued drawing.
[00:03:23 --> 00:03:26] She felt like she was still leaning against Jesus' heart
[00:03:26 --> 00:03:28] and she wanted to stay there forever.
[00:03:30 --> 00:03:33] She didn't know how long it had been when she heard a
[00:03:33 --> 00:03:34] knock on her door.
[00:03:36 --> 00:03:39] She slowly stood up, walked to the door and opened it.
[00:03:39 --> 00:03:42] Sister Mary Catherine was on the other side.
[00:03:42 --> 00:03:44] Sister Margaret Mary.
[00:03:44 --> 00:03:47] She said, are you all right, sister Margaret?
[00:03:47 --> 00:03:51] Mary found it difficult to speak. She stuttered a bit.
[00:03:51 --> 00:03:55] Sister Mary Catherine looked at her with concern.
[00:03:55 --> 00:03:59] Finally, she was able to utter, yes, I'm fine.
[00:04:00 --> 00:04:02] Sister Mary Catherine responded.
[00:04:02 --> 00:04:06] I was knocking on your door for probably two whole minutes.
[00:04:07 --> 00:04:11] You were as sister Margaret Mary. Yes.
[00:04:11 --> 00:04:13] Said Sister Mary Catherine
[00:04:13 --> 00:04:16] who looked at Sister Margaret Mary with a bit
[00:04:16 --> 00:04:18] of suspicion in her eye.
[00:04:18 --> 00:04:22] Talk to me, sister Margaret. Mary, you don't seem yourself.
[00:04:23 --> 00:04:26] Sister Margaret Mary sat back down on her chair
[00:04:26 --> 00:04:30] as she welcomed Sister Mary Catherine into her room
[00:04:30 --> 00:04:31] motioning for her to sit down.
[00:04:32 --> 00:04:35] Sister Mary Catherine sat down on the foot of the small bed.
[00:04:36 --> 00:04:38] Sister Margaret Mary looked blankly to the side
[00:04:38 --> 00:04:40] for a long moment.
[00:04:40 --> 00:04:44] Finally, she said, I don't know what to say.
[00:04:44 --> 00:04:46] Sister Mary Catherine asked,
[00:04:46 --> 00:04:49] what do you mean sister Margaret?
[00:04:49 --> 00:04:53] Mary said, he's given us his whole heart.
[00:04:53 --> 00:04:56] Sister Mary Catherine looked confused. She asked Who?
[00:04:57 --> 00:05:01] Sister Margaret. Mary said him. Jesus.
[00:05:02 --> 00:05:07] Yes. Tonight he let me lean upon his heart
[00:05:07 --> 00:05:08] and listen to it beat.
[00:05:09 --> 00:05:13] There was a long pause. Sister Mary Catherine looked
[00:05:13 --> 00:05:16] around the room wondering what she might mean.
[00:05:16 --> 00:05:20] She asked In what way? Sister Margaret.
[00:05:20 --> 00:05:23] Mary responded, just like I said, he came to me
[00:05:23 --> 00:05:26] and allowed me to listen to his heart.
[00:05:27 --> 00:05:30] Sister Mary Catherine raised her eyebrows.
[00:05:30 --> 00:05:34] Was he there physically? What do you mean?
[00:05:34 --> 00:05:35] Asked Sister Margaret. Mary.
[00:05:35 --> 00:05:40] Of course he was Sister Mary Catherine leaned in towards
[00:05:40 --> 00:05:44] Sister Margaret Mary and rested her chin on her hands.
[00:05:44 --> 00:05:49] Sister, she said. Has this happened before Sister Margaret?
[00:05:49 --> 00:05:54] Mary leaned back. Of course, doesn't he come to you as well?
[00:05:54 --> 00:05:57] Sister Mary Catherine said, you must talk
[00:05:57 --> 00:05:59] with Mother Superior about this.
[00:05:59 --> 00:06:02] This is highly unusual.
[00:06:02 --> 00:06:05] Sister Margaret Mary stared at Sister Mary Catherine
[00:06:05 --> 00:06:08] with wide eyes as if she was going to cry.
[00:06:08 --> 00:06:10] Sister Mary Catherine asked,
[00:06:10 --> 00:06:13] are you all right, sister Margaret?
[00:06:13 --> 00:06:15] Mary took a long pause to compose herself
[00:06:15 --> 00:06:20] and then said He loves us and wants us to love him.
[00:06:21 --> 00:06:25] Sister Mary Catherine said, of course he does.
[00:06:25 --> 00:06:26] Sister Margaret. Mary nodded her head
[00:06:26 --> 00:06:30] and said, he told me exactly what he wants though
[00:06:31 --> 00:06:33] and what does he want?
[00:06:33 --> 00:06:37] As Sister Mary Catherine sister Margaret Mary said
[00:06:37 --> 00:06:40] he wants a special feast day in celebration
[00:06:40 --> 00:06:41] of his sacred heart.
[00:06:42 --> 00:06:45] Sister Mary Catherine nodded her head
[00:06:45 --> 00:06:47] but looked confused as Sister Margaret.
[00:06:47 --> 00:06:49] Mary continued and he wants us
[00:06:49 --> 00:06:52] to receive him in holy communion on the first
[00:06:52 --> 00:06:54] Friday of every month.
[00:06:54 --> 00:06:56] He wants everyone to do this.
[00:06:57 --> 00:07:01] Sister Mary Catherine stood up and paced around the room.
[00:07:01 --> 00:07:03] She put her index finger over her lips
[00:07:03 --> 00:07:05] as she grew deeper in thought.
[00:07:05 --> 00:07:08] She said, sister Margaret, Mary.
[00:07:08 --> 00:07:10] I don't know whether what you're experiencing is
[00:07:10 --> 00:07:11] authentic or not.
[00:07:11 --> 00:07:14] I think you need to talk to Mother Superior
[00:07:14 --> 00:07:16] or Father Felipe about this.
[00:07:16 --> 00:07:20] I must go now. Sister Mary Catherine exited the room
[00:07:20 --> 00:07:22] and closed the door behind her
[00:07:23 --> 00:07:26] sister Margaret Mary looked down at her drawing
[00:07:26 --> 00:07:28] and stroked it with her hand.
[00:07:28 --> 00:07:30] She pondered the image of the pierced heart
[00:07:30 --> 00:07:34] and circled by a crown of thorns out of the top,
[00:07:34 --> 00:07:37] a rose across enveloped in flames.
[00:07:37 --> 00:07:38] She wanted the whole world
[00:07:38 --> 00:07:41] to know about this beautiful image.
[00:07:41 --> 00:07:45] She gazed up at the clock hanging on her wall and gasped.
[00:07:45 --> 00:07:49] She popped out of her chair, left her room,
[00:07:49 --> 00:07:51] and headed back down to the hallway for the chapel.
[00:07:53 --> 00:07:55] As she walked towards the chapel,
[00:07:55 --> 00:07:58] she reflected on her conversation with Sister Mary Catherine
[00:07:58 --> 00:08:01] and remembered all of the times she encountered Jesus.
[00:08:01 --> 00:08:04] Since she was a little girl,
[00:08:04 --> 00:08:06] she felt tears well up in her eyes
[00:08:06 --> 00:08:07] as she pondered the thought
[00:08:07 --> 00:08:10] that other people did not have the joy of seeing
[00:08:10 --> 00:08:11] and hearing Jesus.
[00:08:13 --> 00:08:16] She arrived at the chapel door and stopped.
[00:08:16 --> 00:08:21] She closed her eyes and slowly breathed in and out.
[00:08:21 --> 00:08:22] She opened the door
[00:08:22 --> 00:08:25] and was flooded with the warmth of the chapel's.
[00:08:25 --> 00:08:27] Subtle beauty led only
[00:08:27 --> 00:08:30] by the sanctuary lamp burning next to the tabernacle.
[00:08:30 --> 00:08:32] She fell prostrate
[00:08:32 --> 00:08:36] and said in a whisper, Jesus, on this Thursday evening,
[00:08:36 --> 00:08:38] I want to be with you in your agony at the
[00:08:38 --> 00:08:40] Garden of Gethsemane.
[00:08:40 --> 00:08:44] Just as you have instructed me, she pushed herself up
[00:08:44 --> 00:08:45] until she was kneeling.
[00:08:45 --> 00:08:49] She leaned back and rested on the heels of her feet
[00:08:49 --> 00:08:51] and gazed at Jesus in the tabernacle.
[00:08:57 --> 00:09:01] Sister Margaret. Sister Margaret said a voice.
[00:09:02 --> 00:09:04] Sister Margaret. Mary opened her eyes.
[00:09:05 --> 00:09:09] Mother's Superior was standing over her gently shaking
[00:09:09 --> 00:09:11] her sister Margaret.
[00:09:11 --> 00:09:15] Mary blinked and looked around the chapel light poured in
[00:09:15 --> 00:09:17] through the stained glass windows.
[00:09:17 --> 00:09:20] Did I fall asleep again as Sister Margaret Mary,
[00:09:20 --> 00:09:23] you did send Mother Superior.
[00:09:23 --> 00:09:25] You need your sleep. Sister Margaret.
[00:09:25 --> 00:09:27] You're right, said Sister Margaret.
[00:09:27 --> 00:09:30] Mary, I will try to be in bed at a better time.
[00:09:32 --> 00:09:36] Mother Superior, hesitantly, sighed Sister Margaret.
[00:09:36 --> 00:09:39] She said, I need to speak with you. Come with me.
[00:09:40 --> 00:09:42] Mother Superior put her arm around.
[00:09:42 --> 00:09:45] Sister Margaret Mary and walked her out of the chapel,
[00:09:45 --> 00:09:49] down the hallway and into her private office.
[00:09:49 --> 00:09:51] Sunlight flooded the room
[00:09:51 --> 00:09:53] and Sister Margaret Mary winced,
[00:09:53 --> 00:09:55] shielding her eyes from the brightness.
[00:09:56 --> 00:09:59] Mother Superior closed the curtains on either side,
[00:09:59 --> 00:10:01] and Sister Margaret Mary said, thank you.
[00:10:02 --> 00:10:05] As Sister Margaret, Mary's eyes adjusted.
[00:10:05 --> 00:10:08] She saw that there were five men standing in the room, three
[00:10:08 --> 00:10:10] of whom were priests,
[00:10:10 --> 00:10:13] and the other two scholars she recognized One
[00:10:13 --> 00:10:16] of the priests, father Claude, who was smiling at her.
[00:10:16 --> 00:10:18] The other men looked very harsh.
[00:10:19 --> 00:10:21] Please sit said Mother Superior.
[00:10:21 --> 00:10:24] As she motioned towards a chair near the center of the room,
[00:10:25 --> 00:10:28] sister slowly approached the chair looking at the men
[00:10:28 --> 00:10:33] as she timidly sat down, well said Mother Superior.
[00:10:33 --> 00:10:36] I have brought some experts here today.
[00:10:37 --> 00:10:41] Sister Margaret Mary folded her hands to calm her nerves.
[00:10:41 --> 00:10:43] Experts on what she asked.
[00:10:44 --> 00:10:47] One of the scholars stepped forward and said,
[00:10:47 --> 00:10:49] and has come to our attention that you claim
[00:10:49 --> 00:10:51] to be having visions of our Lord.
[00:10:52 --> 00:10:55] Sister Margaret Mary coiled in on herself
[00:10:55 --> 00:10:57] claim she asked.
[00:10:57 --> 00:11:01] The man continued. I must say it is extremely rare
[00:11:01 --> 00:11:04] that one is gifted with mystical encounters,
[00:11:04 --> 00:11:07] and I don't believe you are the type of person
[00:11:07 --> 00:11:09] who would receive such a gift.
[00:11:11 --> 00:11:13] Sister Margaret Mary swallowed in an attempt
[00:11:13 --> 00:11:15] to hold back her tears,
[00:11:15 --> 00:11:17] but she felt them streaming down her face.
[00:11:17 --> 00:11:22] Nonetheless, while I sister Margaret couldn't even get
[00:11:22 --> 00:11:27] her words out, she was so hurt by what she was hearing.
[00:11:27 --> 00:11:30] Her heart ached, but she silently prayed.
[00:11:30 --> 00:11:32] I unite my aching heart to yours.
[00:11:32 --> 00:11:36] Lord, the scholar continued.
[00:11:36 --> 00:11:39] We do not believe these visions to be authentic,
[00:11:39 --> 00:11:42] and we strongly encourage you not to speak to anyone
[00:11:42 --> 00:11:43] of these encounters.
[00:11:43 --> 00:11:46] You are likely experiencing delusions
[00:11:46 --> 00:11:49] and you ought to consider eating more.
[00:11:49 --> 00:11:52] If you fast too much, you may start to see things
[00:11:52 --> 00:11:54] that aren't there.
[00:11:54 --> 00:11:57] Sister Margaret Mary said through her tears,
[00:11:57 --> 00:12:00] Jesus wants us all to hear what He's telling me.
[00:12:01 --> 00:12:03] The scholar harshly said,
[00:12:03 --> 00:12:06] I don't think you're understanding.
[00:12:06 --> 00:12:10] Father Claude stepped forward and interrupted the scholar.
[00:12:10 --> 00:12:13] Pardon me, but you're being too harsh with the sister.
[00:12:13 --> 00:12:15] He extended his hand to Sister Margaret Mary
[00:12:15 --> 00:12:18] and said, good to see you, sister.
[00:12:18 --> 00:12:21] Sister Margaret. Mary Timidly extended her hand
[00:12:21 --> 00:12:23] and said, you as well, father.
[00:12:24 --> 00:12:26] Father Claude asked, may I talk
[00:12:26 --> 00:12:29] with you privately in the chapel
[00:12:29 --> 00:12:31] sister Margaret Mary nodded her head.
[00:12:31 --> 00:12:34] Father Claude gently helped Sister Margaret Mary out
[00:12:34 --> 00:12:37] of her chair and stepped out of the office.
[00:12:38 --> 00:12:40] Mother Superior looked at the other men not
[00:12:40 --> 00:12:42] knowing what to think.
[00:12:42 --> 00:12:45] They waited a long time until the office door opened
[00:12:45 --> 00:12:47] and Father Claude entered.
[00:12:47 --> 00:12:50] He gently closed the door behind him, smiled
[00:12:50 --> 00:12:53] and let out a friendly sigh of relief.
[00:12:53 --> 00:12:55] The sister is telling the truth.
[00:12:55 --> 00:12:58] He said Her humility and simplicity speak for themselves.
[00:12:59 --> 00:13:02] She has all the makings of a mystic
[00:13:02 --> 00:13:04] and her visions are all in a alignment
[00:13:04 --> 00:13:06] with the heart of God.
[00:13:06 --> 00:13:09] The other men rolled their eyes and scoffed,
[00:13:09 --> 00:13:12] but Father Claude continued smiling.
[00:13:12 --> 00:13:15] Where is she? Asked Mother Superior.
[00:13:15 --> 00:13:18] She's in the chapel praying, said Father Claude.
[00:13:18 --> 00:13:22] He continued. Mother Superior. May I have a word with you?
[00:13:23 --> 00:13:25] Mother Superior nodded her head
[00:13:25 --> 00:13:27] and stepped out of the office with Father Claude
[00:13:30 --> 00:13:31] mother Superior.
[00:13:31 --> 00:13:34] He said, I believe this young sister
[00:13:34 --> 00:13:36] to be a very special case.
[00:13:36 --> 00:13:38] Cherish her. It is a gift
[00:13:38 --> 00:13:41] to have a delicate soul like this in your care.
[00:13:42 --> 00:13:44] I believe that the encounters she is having
[00:13:44 --> 00:13:46] with our Lord should be listened to
[00:13:46 --> 00:13:50] and given time even taken to our Holy Father.
[00:13:50 --> 00:13:54] The Pope mother's superior's, eyes grew wide.
[00:13:54 --> 00:13:59] Father Claude said. It is, of course up to your discernment,
[00:13:59 --> 00:14:01] but I think she would make an excellent superior.
[00:14:01 --> 00:14:05] One day, mother Superior was surprised
[00:14:05 --> 00:14:08] and had a hard time gathering her thoughts,
[00:14:08 --> 00:14:10] but she was able to muster up the words.
[00:14:10 --> 00:14:12] Well, thank you Father.
[00:14:12 --> 00:14:14] Father Claude smiled
[00:14:14 --> 00:14:18] and gently squeezed mother superior's hand in affection,
[00:14:18 --> 00:14:20] mother Superior let out a deep sigh.
[00:14:20 --> 00:14:24] She walked on the hallway to the chapel, opened the door
[00:14:24 --> 00:14:26] and peeked inside to look at Sister Margaret.
[00:14:26 --> 00:14:30] Mary praying. She saw in this young woman a level
[00:14:30 --> 00:14:33] of peace she had never encountered before.
[00:14:34 --> 00:14:37] Mother superior's eyes followed the gaze
[00:14:37 --> 00:14:41] of Sister Margaret Mary to the tabernacle,
[00:14:41 --> 00:14:45] and she became entranced as she pondered all
[00:14:45 --> 00:14:46] that Father Claude had said,
[00:14:50 --> 00:14:52] whoa, that heart isn't just beautiful.
[00:14:52 --> 00:14:56] It's a message. Jesus's sacred heart shows us
[00:14:56 --> 00:14:58] how much he loves us.
[00:14:58 --> 00:15:02] His heart is on fire with love wrapped in thorns
[00:15:02 --> 00:15:05] because he suffered for us and topped with a cross
[00:15:05 --> 00:15:08] because he gave everything to bring us close.
[00:15:08 --> 00:15:11] So when you see the sacred heart, remember Jesus loves you
[00:15:11 --> 00:15:13] with his whole heart.
[00:15:13 --> 00:15:14] Thanks for watching today, friends,
[00:15:14 --> 00:15:16] and don't forget to subscribe so
[00:15:16 --> 00:15:19] that we can keep building up our faith together.
[00:15:19 --> 00:15:20] See you next time. Now
[00:15:20 --> 00:15:23] that we've learned about the sacred heart of Jesus,
[00:15:23 --> 00:15:26] let's look at the Holy Family.
[00:15:26 --> 00:15:29] Jesus, Mary and Joseph all show us how to love God
[00:15:29 --> 00:15:31] with our whole hearts.
[00:15:31 --> 00:15:34] What's something you love about your family?
[00:15:34 --> 00:15:36] Maybe it's how your mom hugs you
[00:15:36 --> 00:15:38] or how your dad plays games,
[00:15:38 --> 00:15:41] or maybe when everyone is together for your favorite meal.
[00:15:41 --> 00:15:43] Well, God loves family too.
[00:15:43 --> 00:15:46] So much that he sent his son Jesus to be born
[00:15:46 --> 00:15:48] to the best family ever.
[00:15:48 --> 00:15:50] The Holy Family.
[00:15:50 --> 00:15:54] The Holy Family is made up of three very special people.
[00:15:54 --> 00:15:57] Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
[00:15:57 --> 00:16:02] They are an example of love, faith, and trust in God.
[00:16:02 --> 00:16:05] Well, let's meet them and learn more Jews.
[00:16:08 --> 00:16:12] First, we have Jesus. Jesus is the son of God.
[00:16:12 --> 00:16:15] He came to earth to teach us about God's love
[00:16:15 --> 00:16:17] and to save us from our sins.
[00:16:18 --> 00:16:21] He grew up a lot like you and me learning and playing,
[00:16:21 --> 00:16:24] but he was special and he had a very special mission.
[00:16:25 --> 00:16:28] He taught everyone about God's kingdom
[00:16:28 --> 00:16:30] and died for our sins.
[00:16:34 --> 00:16:37] Next we have Mary. Mary is Jesus' mother.
[00:16:39 --> 00:16:42] She was chosen by God to be the mother of his son
[00:16:42 --> 00:16:44] because she was full of grace
[00:16:44 --> 00:16:46] and always trusted in God's plan.
[00:16:51 --> 00:16:54] She loved Jesus very much and took care of him.
[00:17:50 --> 00:17:54] And then there's Joseph. Joseph was a carpenter.
[00:17:54 --> 00:17:56] He built furniture and other things out of wood.
[00:18:06 --> 00:18:09] He protected and provided for Jesus and Mary.
[00:18:11 --> 00:18:15] He always listened to God's messages and did what was right.
[00:19:23 --> 00:19:25] You will also notice that Jesus, Mary,
[00:19:25 --> 00:19:29] and Joseph have very interesting hearts.
[00:19:29 --> 00:19:32] The three hearts of the Holy family are the sacred heart
[00:19:32 --> 00:19:35] of Jesus, the immaculate heart of Mary
[00:19:35 --> 00:19:37] and the chaste heart of St.
[00:19:37 --> 00:19:40] Joseph. Each heart has its own special meaning.
[00:19:42 --> 00:19:45] The sacred heart of Jesus has a flame to show
[00:19:45 --> 00:19:47] how Jesus's love burns for us.
[00:19:54 --> 00:19:56] It also has a crown of thorns
[00:19:56 --> 00:20:01] and a wound in its side that reminds us
[00:20:01 --> 00:20:03] of Jesus dying on the cross for us.
[00:20:03 --> 00:20:07] It reminds us how badly our sin hurts Jesus' heart,
[00:20:10 --> 00:20:12] but Jesus loves us so much.
[00:20:12 --> 00:20:15] He was willing to sacrifice his own life to save us.
[00:20:19 --> 00:20:21] The immaculate heart of Mary is shown
[00:20:21 --> 00:20:24] with a sword piercing the heart and surrounded by roses.
[00:20:29 --> 00:20:30] This heart shows us
[00:20:30 --> 00:20:35] how much pain Mary felt seeing her son Jesus be crucified.
[00:20:40 --> 00:20:44] It also symbolizes her purity and love for God.
[00:20:44 --> 00:20:48] Her yes to God's will and the mission of Jesus.
[00:21:03 --> 00:21:07] The third heart is the most chased heart of St. Joseph.
[00:21:10 --> 00:21:12] His heart is shown with lilies around it,
[00:21:12 --> 00:21:16] representing his chastity as the earthly father of Jesus.
[00:21:24 --> 00:21:27] Joseph loved and protected his family with all of his heart.
[00:21:29 --> 00:21:32] Sometimes his heart is also shown with carpenter tools
[00:21:32 --> 00:21:35] to remind us how hard he worked for his family.
[00:21:42 --> 00:21:45] The hearts of the Holy family are so cool.
[00:21:45 --> 00:21:47] They really show us how much Jesus, Mary
[00:21:47 --> 00:21:51] and Joseph loved each other, loved God and love us.
[00:23:44 --> 00:23:46] Remember when the angel Gabriel came to Mary
[00:23:46 --> 00:23:51] and told her God wanted her to be the mother of Jesus?
[00:23:51 --> 00:23:54] Mary was probably so scared, but she said yes
[00:23:54 --> 00:23:57] because she trusted God with all of her heart.
[00:23:58 --> 00:24:02] Joseph was freaked out when he found out about Mary having a
[00:24:02 --> 00:24:04] baby from God.
[00:24:04 --> 00:24:06] What would other people around town think?
[00:24:06 --> 00:24:10] They'll probably think I'm crazy. I don't wanna do this,
[00:24:16 --> 00:24:18] but God sent an angel to Joseph.
[00:24:21 --> 00:24:24] Joseph, you don't have to worry so much.
[00:24:24 --> 00:24:29] God will be with you. You will be a wonderful dad to Jesus.
[00:24:36 --> 00:24:38] I'm sorry Mary.
[00:24:38 --> 00:24:43] I'll be your husband and I'll love this baby Jesus.
[00:24:43 --> 00:24:45] Oh, Joseph, I love you so much.
[00:24:47 --> 00:24:50] And then when it was time for Jesus to be born,
[00:24:50 --> 00:24:54] the Holy Family had to travel very far to Bethlehem.
[00:24:54 --> 00:24:57] There were no hotels for them to stay at, so they had
[00:24:57 --> 00:25:00] to stay in a barn and that's where Jesus was born.
[00:25:01 --> 00:25:04] It wasn't ideal, but they stuck together as a family.
[00:25:05 --> 00:25:10] The Holy Family is amazing and it's the coolest family ever,
[00:25:10 --> 00:25:13] but in a lot of ways they're like your family too.
[00:25:13 --> 00:25:16] They have worries and they have troubles,
[00:25:16 --> 00:25:19] but they put all of their love and trust in God
[00:25:19 --> 00:25:21] and that helps them love each other more
[00:25:21 --> 00:25:23] and help them get through anything.
[00:25:24 --> 00:25:26] Well, thank you so much for coloring
[00:25:26 --> 00:25:28] and getting to know the Holy Family today.
[00:25:28 --> 00:25:32] Check out the description for this coloring page, the Dolls
[00:25:32 --> 00:25:34] and More from The Little Rose Shop,
[00:25:34 --> 00:25:37] and don't forget to subscribe to Juice Box
[00:25:37 --> 00:25:38] for more fun videos.
[00:25:38 --> 00:25:41] See you next time, friends. Bye.
[00:25:41 --> 00:25:44] The sacred heart shows us that Jesus loves us
[00:25:44 --> 00:25:47] and Divine mercy shows us that his love is full
[00:25:47 --> 00:25:48] of forgiveness.
[00:25:48 --> 00:25:50] Jesus wants us to trust him
[00:25:50 --> 00:25:53] and run back to him when we need mercy.
[00:25:53 --> 00:25:56] Hi, it's Di with a special prayer video.
[00:25:56 --> 00:25:59] Today will be all about the Divine Mercy chaplain.
[00:25:59 --> 00:26:01] You might have seen this image,
[00:26:01 --> 00:26:03] but we'll tell you all about it
[00:26:03 --> 00:26:06] and we'll also show you how to pray it with some
[00:26:06 --> 00:26:09] of my juice box friends just to have a little extra fun.
[00:26:09 --> 00:26:13] We'll also recreate the image from Legos. Let's get started.
[00:26:14 --> 00:26:19] Juice found. - Okay, let's go.
[00:26:19 --> 00:26:22] What is the divine mercy and where did it come from?
[00:26:22 --> 00:26:25] Divine mercy is a prayer.
[00:26:25 --> 00:26:27] It came from us sister
[00:26:29 --> 00:26:32] that was really close to Jesus.
[00:26:32 --> 00:26:36] Do you remember her name? That sounds right.
[00:26:36 --> 00:26:40] She was praying and Jesus came
[00:26:40 --> 00:26:43] and asked to paint an
[00:26:44 --> 00:26:48] and he also taught her this special divine mercy. Prayer.
[00:26:48 --> 00:26:52] Mercy, that's a big word. Do you know what it means?
[00:26:53 --> 00:26:57] Mercy is when you have power, but you use it for good.
[00:26:57 --> 00:26:59] God has mercy for us
[00:26:59 --> 00:27:01] because even though we do bad stuff,
[00:27:01 --> 00:27:03] he forgives us and loves us.
[00:27:03 --> 00:27:07] Yay. Do you think God has a little bit of mercy
[00:27:07 --> 00:27:08] or a lot of mercy?
[00:27:08 --> 00:27:11] He has an ocean of mercy.
[00:27:11 --> 00:27:15] What does the image of the divine mercy look like?
[00:27:15 --> 00:27:17] Jesus was raising his hand
[00:27:17 --> 00:27:20] and out of his heart was coming a
[00:27:21 --> 00:27:22] red rays and the blue rays
[00:27:23 --> 00:27:25] Blue and red.
[00:27:25 --> 00:27:28] That's interesting. What do those rays mean?
[00:27:28 --> 00:27:32] The red means how much he loves us
[00:27:32 --> 00:27:37] and the water means when he washes off all
[00:27:37 --> 00:27:38] of our bad stuff.
[00:27:38 --> 00:27:42] It sounds like Jesus has a lot of mercy for us. Everyone
[00:27:42 --> 00:27:44] Gets God's love.
[00:27:44 --> 00:27:45] That sounds amazing.
[00:27:45 --> 00:27:48] I'm going to try to make my own divine mercy image out
[00:27:48 --> 00:27:49] of these legos.
[00:27:49 --> 00:27:51] Should we try to pray the chaplain? It's
[00:27:51 --> 00:27:53] Time to pray.
[00:27:53 --> 00:27:56] Yay. I can't wait for us to all pray together.
[00:27:56 --> 00:27:59] I asked some of my other juice box friends to help us.
[00:27:59 --> 00:28:02] If you have a rosary, you can use one.
[00:28:02 --> 00:28:05] First we make the sign of the cross
[00:28:05 --> 00:28:06] And the name of the Father
[00:28:06 --> 00:28:10] and the sun, the Holy Spirit. Amen.
[00:28:10 --> 00:28:12] Then we say this three times.
[00:28:12 --> 00:28:16] Oh, blood and water, which gushed forth from the heart
[00:28:16 --> 00:28:19] of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us.
[00:28:19 --> 00:28:21] I trust in you.
[00:28:21 --> 00:28:25] Oh, blood and water that gust from the heart of Jesus
[00:28:25 --> 00:28:28] as a fountain of mercy for us.
[00:28:28 --> 00:28:29] I trust in you.
[00:28:29 --> 00:28:33] Oh, blood and water which gushed forth from the heart
[00:28:33 --> 00:28:36] of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us.
[00:28:36 --> 00:28:37] I trust in you.
[00:28:37 --> 00:28:39] Then we say the Lord's prayer.
[00:28:39 --> 00:28:42] We say that our Father on the first little beat
[00:28:42 --> 00:28:47] Our father horn heaven - Be by kingdom.
[00:28:47 --> 00:28:49] Come th will be done
[00:28:49 --> 00:28:51] On earth as it is in heaven.
[00:28:51 --> 00:28:56] Give F. Stay our dairy with and forgive us our trespasses
[00:28:57 --> 00:29:00] As we forgive those who dress pierce against us
[00:29:00 --> 00:29:03] And lead us not into temptation.
[00:29:03 --> 00:29:05] They lost from amen.
[00:29:05 --> 00:29:08] That was great. On the next little bead, we pray,
[00:29:08 --> 00:29:09] the hail Mary,
[00:29:09 --> 00:29:13] Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is worth
[00:29:13 --> 00:29:14] Bless.
[00:29:14 --> 00:29:15] You are among women
[00:29:15 --> 00:29:18] And blesses the fruit of D Jesus Jesus.
[00:29:18 --> 00:29:21] Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sin enemies now.
[00:29:21 --> 00:29:24] Now, now we're. Amen. Amen.
[00:29:24 --> 00:29:27] And then say the apostles creed once.
[00:29:27 --> 00:29:29] Oh, I know this one. I can do it.
[00:29:29 --> 00:29:34] I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven
[00:29:34 --> 00:29:39] and earth and in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord
[00:29:39 --> 00:29:42] who is conceived by the holy born
[00:29:42 --> 00:29:47] of the Virgin Mary suffered under Pontius Pilate was
[00:29:47 --> 00:29:50] crucified, died, and was buried.
[00:29:50 --> 00:29:52] He descended into hell.
[00:29:52 --> 00:29:55] The third day he rose again from the dead.
[00:29:55 --> 00:29:59] He ascended into heaven, seated at the right hand of God,
[00:29:59 --> 00:30:01] the Father Almighty.
[00:30:01 --> 00:30:05] From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
[00:30:05 --> 00:30:09] I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church,
[00:30:09 --> 00:30:13] the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
[00:30:13 --> 00:30:17] the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
[00:30:17 --> 00:30:21] Amen on this be that's by itself.
[00:30:21 --> 00:30:25] We say the eternal Father. I'll help you with that one too.
[00:30:25 --> 00:30:30] Eternal Father, I offer you the body and blood, soul,
[00:30:30 --> 00:30:32] and divinity of your dearly beloved son,
[00:30:32 --> 00:30:36] our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins
[00:30:36 --> 00:30:39] and for those of the whole world.
[00:30:39 --> 00:30:42] On each of the 10 small beads, let's say
[00:30:42 --> 00:30:46] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:30:46 --> 00:30:48] and on the whole world.
[00:30:48 --> 00:30:50] For the sake of his sorrowful passion,
[00:30:50 --> 00:30:53] have mercy on us and the whole world.
[00:30:53 --> 00:30:57] For the sake of sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:30:57 --> 00:30:59] and on the whole world.
[00:30:59 --> 00:31:03] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:31:03 --> 00:31:04] and on the whole world.
[00:31:04 --> 00:31:07] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy
[00:31:07 --> 00:31:09] for us and the whole world.
[00:31:09 --> 00:31:13] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:31:13 --> 00:31:14] and on the whole world.
[00:31:14 --> 00:31:18] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:31:18 --> 00:31:20] and on the whole world. For the
[00:31:20 --> 00:31:23] Sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy
[00:31:23 --> 00:31:25] for us and the whole world.
[00:31:25 --> 00:31:29] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:31:29 --> 00:31:31] and on the whole world.
[00:31:31 --> 00:31:35] For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us
[00:31:35 --> 00:31:37] and on the whole world.
[00:31:37 --> 00:31:40] If you want to do the whole divine mercy, go all the way
[00:31:40 --> 00:31:45] around and do all the beats, but today we'll just do 10.
[00:31:45 --> 00:31:49] Okay, we're almost done. To finish up the divine mercy.
[00:31:49 --> 00:31:51] This is what we'll say three times.
[00:31:51 --> 00:31:55] Holy God, holy mighty, one, holy immortal, one,
[00:31:55 --> 00:31:58] have mercy on us and the whole world.
[00:31:58 --> 00:32:02] Holy God. Holy mighty one, holy immortal, one,
[00:32:02 --> 00:32:05] have mercy on us and the whole world.
[00:32:05 --> 00:32:08] Holy God. Holy mighty one, holy immortal, one,
[00:32:08 --> 00:32:12] Have mercy on us and the whole world
[00:32:12 --> 00:32:16] and by making the sign of the cross the name of the
[00:32:17 --> 00:32:19] sign of the Holy Spirit.
[00:32:19 --> 00:32:22] Amen. That was kind of hard.
[00:32:22 --> 00:32:23] That is a long prayer,
[00:32:23 --> 00:32:27] but it makes Jesus so happy when we pray it, especially
[00:32:27 --> 00:32:29] for those that need his love most.
[00:32:29 --> 00:32:32] Let's take a look at our divine mercy image.
[00:32:32 --> 00:32:35] That looks great. I can't wait to pray
[00:32:35 --> 00:32:37] with you next time. Bye. He
[00:32:38 --> 00:32:40] Loves you, - So
[00:32:40 --> 00:32:44] how do we receive Jesus's mercy in a special way?
[00:32:44 --> 00:32:47] One beautiful way is confession. In confession.
[00:32:47 --> 00:32:49] Jesus forgives our sins
[00:32:49 --> 00:32:52] and helps our hearts become clean again.
[00:32:52 --> 00:32:53] Hi kids. My name is Dili
[00:32:53 --> 00:32:57] and today we're building this super cool Lego confessional.
[00:32:57 --> 00:32:59] Do you know what confession is?
[00:32:59 --> 00:33:03] Let me tell you all about it. As we build juice.
[00:33:03 --> 00:33:07] Bomb Confession is one
[00:33:07 --> 00:33:08] of the seven sacraments.
[00:33:08 --> 00:33:12] Sacraments are special gifts from God.
[00:33:12 --> 00:33:14] It involves some kind of sign
[00:33:14 --> 00:33:18] or real life thing that we can see or touch or hear.
[00:33:18 --> 00:33:20] Confession is when you tell your sins
[00:33:20 --> 00:33:24] to a priest in the sacrament of confession, you hear
[00:33:24 --> 00:33:27] through the priest the words of Jesus forgiving you.
[00:33:28 --> 00:33:31] Ignoring our sins doesn't make them go away,
[00:33:31 --> 00:33:35] so just like you go to the doctor to heal when you're sick
[00:33:35 --> 00:33:40] or break a bone, going to confession heals us of our sins.
[00:33:40 --> 00:33:43] Jesus gave priests that special job of helping us.
[00:33:44 --> 00:33:46] Do you know what sin is?
[00:33:47 --> 00:33:49] Sin is when we do something that is wrong
[00:33:49 --> 00:33:51] and makes you turn away from God.
[00:33:51 --> 00:33:56] Hmm. God wants
[00:33:56 --> 00:33:58] to be our friend and when we do bad things,
[00:33:58 --> 00:34:00] it hurts our friendship.
[00:34:01 --> 00:34:04] So when you go to confession, it's like telling your friend
[00:34:04 --> 00:34:07] that you're really sorry and then you can be friends again
[00:34:07 --> 00:34:10] and the best part, God will always forgive you.
[00:34:12 --> 00:34:13] Do you know what to do in confession?
[00:34:14 --> 00:34:17] Let me help you first.
[00:34:17 --> 00:34:20] Pray to the Holy Spirit and ask for help.
[00:34:20 --> 00:34:22] Sometimes we need extra courage.
[00:34:22 --> 00:34:25] It can feel scary, but there's nothing to be scared of.
[00:34:25 --> 00:34:27] Confession will make you feel better.
[00:34:27 --> 00:34:29] Think about the things that you're really sorry about
[00:34:29 --> 00:34:31] and make you feel icky.
[00:34:31 --> 00:34:32] Ask yourself some questions.
[00:34:32 --> 00:34:34] If you're having trouble thinking
[00:34:34 --> 00:34:36] of something, here are a few.
[00:34:37 --> 00:34:39] Have I prayed every day?
[00:34:40 --> 00:34:43] Am I trying my best at everything or am I being lazy?
[00:34:44 --> 00:34:47] Have I been respectful to my parents and my teachers?
[00:34:48 --> 00:34:51] Have I gotten mad at my friends or hit somebody?
[00:34:52 --> 00:34:54] Am I having trouble forgiving someone?
[00:34:55 --> 00:34:58] Nothing is too big or too small to say.
[00:35:05 --> 00:35:08] When you walk into the confessional, make the sign
[00:35:08 --> 00:35:12] of the cross in the name of the Father and the Son
[00:35:12 --> 00:35:13] and the Holy Spirit.
[00:35:14 --> 00:35:17] Then tell the priest your sins. Be honest.
[00:35:18 --> 00:35:22] Feel free to tell him why you did them if you need to,
[00:35:22 --> 00:35:23] it might feel like the priest is going
[00:35:23 --> 00:35:26] to be upset at you, but he won't.
[00:35:26 --> 00:35:28] He won't judge you and he won't tell anyone.
[00:35:28 --> 00:35:32] He's not allowed to. He has to keep it a secret forever.
[00:35:36 --> 00:35:38] Wow, we're not done building yet.
[00:35:44 --> 00:35:46] When you're done with your confession,
[00:35:46 --> 00:35:49] the priest will give you some advice and app penance.
[00:35:49 --> 00:35:50] This may be a prayer
[00:35:50 --> 00:35:53] or something nice you have to do for someone else.
[00:35:54 --> 00:35:56] A penance isn't a punishment.
[00:35:56 --> 00:35:58] It shows that you really are sorry
[00:35:58 --> 00:35:59] and you want to do better.
[00:36:08 --> 00:36:10] Wow. Whoa, those are so cool.
[00:36:10 --> 00:36:13] In a confessional, when the light is red, someone is inside
[00:36:13 --> 00:36:14] and you have to wait your turn.
[00:36:16 --> 00:36:19] After you receive app penance, the priest will ask you
[00:36:19 --> 00:36:21] to say the act of contrition.
[00:36:21 --> 00:36:24] That's a prayer you say to God saying how sorry you are
[00:36:26 --> 00:36:29] and promising you'll try not to do bad things anymore.
[00:36:29 --> 00:36:31] Your act of contrition may be something like this.
[00:36:32 --> 00:36:36] Dear God, I am very sorry that I have sinned.
[00:36:36 --> 00:36:39] You are so good and I have hurt our friendship.
[00:36:39 --> 00:36:41] With your help, I will not sin again
[00:36:41 --> 00:36:43] and promise to do better.
[00:36:43 --> 00:36:48] Amen. If you ever forget what to say in
[00:36:48 --> 00:36:49] confession, don't worry.
[00:36:49 --> 00:36:51] The priest is there to help you.
[00:36:53 --> 00:36:55] The coolest part of confession is the absolution.
[00:36:57 --> 00:37:00] The priest will raise his hands and ask God to forgive you.
[00:37:00 --> 00:37:03] In the name of the church, he will say,
[00:37:03 --> 00:37:06] I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father
[00:37:06 --> 00:37:09] and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
[00:37:09 --> 00:37:11] When he does that, your soul will be clean
[00:37:11 --> 00:37:13] like it took a shower.
[00:37:13 --> 00:37:16] Don't forget to do your penance as soon as you can.
[00:37:16 --> 00:37:19] Confession is awesome and feels really nice.
[00:37:36 --> 00:37:38] The priest is wearing a stole.
[00:37:38 --> 00:37:41] This symbolizes that his job is very important.
[00:37:41 --> 00:37:45] That's kind of like when a police officer wears his badge.
[00:37:45 --> 00:37:46] The stole is purple
[00:37:46 --> 00:37:48] because purple represents healing, which is
[00:37:48 --> 00:37:50] what is happening when we go to confession.
[00:38:07 --> 00:38:09] I hope you liked building my new Lego
[00:38:09 --> 00:38:11] and learning about confession.
[00:38:11 --> 00:38:12] Come back soon and see
[00:38:12 --> 00:38:14] what other cool toys I'll be sharing with you.
[00:38:14 --> 00:38:18] Bye. Jesus doesn't just love us from far away.
[00:38:18 --> 00:38:21] He comes close to us in the Eucharist.
[00:38:21 --> 00:38:23] Corpus Christi means we celebrate the body
[00:38:23 --> 00:38:25] and blood of Jesus.
[00:38:25 --> 00:38:28] Have you noticed that at church we talk a lot about bread.
[00:38:28 --> 00:38:32] I love bread, pizza, bread, cheesy bread,
[00:38:32 --> 00:38:35] lemon bread, banana bread.
[00:38:35 --> 00:38:38] Well, I wanna talk about the best bread of all time,
[00:38:39 --> 00:38:40] Bread with butter.
[00:38:40 --> 00:38:42] Even better. We're talking about the bread of life.
[00:38:42 --> 00:38:44] Jesus himself,
[00:38:44 --> 00:38:47] and we're gonna talk about a feast called Corpus Christi.
[00:38:47 --> 00:38:50] Oh, I think I had a girl named Christi in my class Once.
[00:38:50 --> 00:38:53] Corpus Christi isn't a person. It's Latin.
[00:38:53 --> 00:38:57] Corpus means a body, and then Christi means of Christ.
[00:38:57 --> 00:39:00] The body of Christ.
[00:39:00 --> 00:39:02] Exactly. That's the feast where we celebrate
[00:39:02 --> 00:39:06] that Jesus is truly present in the bread we receive at mass.
[00:39:06 --> 00:39:09] You have me a bread, juice barn.
[00:39:11 --> 00:39:15] I don't get it. How is Jesus like breath?
[00:39:15 --> 00:39:17] Do you remember what Jesus said at the last supper?
[00:39:17 --> 00:39:20] This is my body which is giving up for you.
[00:39:20 --> 00:39:23] Do this in memory of me.
[00:39:23 --> 00:39:26] So he really meant it. It's not pretend.
[00:39:26 --> 00:39:27] What he says was real.
[00:39:27 --> 00:39:30] He wants to stay close to us in a very real way,
[00:39:30 --> 00:39:32] and Jesus taught this even
[00:39:32 --> 00:39:36] before the last supper in John chapter six, he said,
[00:39:36 --> 00:39:38] I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
[00:39:38 --> 00:39:40] Whoever eats my flesh
[00:39:40 --> 00:39:44] and drinks, my blood will have life in him.
[00:39:44 --> 00:39:46] That sounds kind of mysterious.
[00:39:46 --> 00:39:49] It's a mystery, but we call a sacrament something
[00:39:49 --> 00:39:51] that we see on the outside,
[00:39:51 --> 00:39:55] but something even greater that's going on on the inside.
[00:39:55 --> 00:39:57] The Eucharist is like super bread.
[00:39:57 --> 00:40:02] You can call it heavenly bread. Let's make a mons stamp.
[00:40:02 --> 00:40:05] That's the golden thing that holds the Eucharist
[00:40:05 --> 00:40:07] during adoration.
[00:40:07 --> 00:40:09] It's like a Jesus spotlight.
[00:40:09 --> 00:40:11] I like finding fun crafts in this book.
[00:40:11 --> 00:40:14] I think there was something with a monster in here.
[00:40:17 --> 00:40:19] It looks like the sun on the stand.
[00:40:48 --> 00:40:49] Let's try the step.
[00:40:56 --> 00:41:00] It worked. - I'll paint in
[00:41:00 --> 00:41:01] the part that didn't step.
[00:41:05 --> 00:41:05] That looks good.
[00:41:11 --> 00:41:13] What's the streamer stuff for?
[00:41:14 --> 00:41:17] On Corpus Christi, people have processions.
[00:41:17 --> 00:41:19] It's like a holy parade.
[00:41:19 --> 00:41:20] I love parades.
[00:41:20 --> 00:41:24] When we have a procession, we do it outside of the church
[00:41:24 --> 00:41:27] and we show other people outside of the church
[00:41:27 --> 00:41:30] that we're walking because we think Jesus is important
[00:41:30 --> 00:41:31] and that Jesus is important not just
[00:41:31 --> 00:41:34] for us, but he's important. The whole world.
[00:41:34 --> 00:41:36] Let's make one for the procession.
[00:41:56 --> 00:41:58] I looked a little crazy.
[00:42:01 --> 00:42:04] So Jesus is really in the bread
[00:42:04 --> 00:42:06] and he wants to be close to us.
[00:42:06 --> 00:42:09] Yes, that's what Corpus Christi is all about.
[00:42:09 --> 00:42:12] Jesus loves us so much that he made himself present
[00:42:12 --> 00:42:14] for us always.
[00:42:14 --> 00:42:16] Thanks Jesus and thanks for the bread.
[00:42:16 --> 00:42:19] Thank you friends, and I'll see you next time.
[00:42:19 --> 00:42:20] Bye juice boxers.
[00:42:20 --> 00:42:24] We've learned so much about Jesus's sacred heart,
[00:42:24 --> 00:42:27] his mercy, his forgiveness, and the Eucharist.
[00:42:27 --> 00:42:30] Now let's make something beautiful to remember His love.
[00:42:30 --> 00:42:32] Love comes in all kinds of forms
[00:42:32 --> 00:42:34] besides just for sweethearts.
[00:42:34 --> 00:42:38] You can show love to your parents, siblings, friends,
[00:42:38 --> 00:42:39] or anyone you care about.
[00:42:39 --> 00:42:43] The greatest love of all is the love Jesus Christ has
[00:42:43 --> 00:42:44] for us today.
[00:42:44 --> 00:42:46] We get to celebrate that love we feel
[00:42:46 --> 00:42:48] for the people in our lives.
[00:42:48 --> 00:42:50] And what better way to celebrate than
[00:42:50 --> 00:42:52] to give others a valentine?
[00:42:52 --> 00:42:55] Today I'll show you how to make Valentine's in the shapes
[00:42:55 --> 00:42:57] of the most merciful hearts.
[00:42:57 --> 00:43:01] The merciful heart of Jesus and Mary Juice bark.
[00:43:04 --> 00:43:06] The merciful hearts became really important.
[00:43:06 --> 00:43:11] A long time ago during the Middle Ages, St.
[00:43:11 --> 00:43:14] Margaret, Mary had lots of visions about these hearts
[00:43:14 --> 00:43:16] and how much Jesus and Mary Love us.
[00:43:17 --> 00:43:19] She shared all her stories so
[00:43:19 --> 00:43:23] that everyone could learn about God's love and mercy.
[00:43:23 --> 00:43:27] The most famous of the hearts is a sacred heart of Jesus.
[00:43:27 --> 00:43:29] It's a symbol of Jesus's amazing love
[00:43:29 --> 00:43:31] and mercy for all of us.
[00:43:32 --> 00:43:36] Mercy means that even when we mess up, Jesus forgives us
[00:43:36 --> 00:43:38] and still loves us so much.
[00:43:40 --> 00:43:42] The sacred heart of Jesus is shown
[00:43:42 --> 00:43:44] with flames coming from it to show
[00:43:44 --> 00:43:46] how his love burns for us.
[00:43:49 --> 00:43:51] It also has thorns around it.
[00:43:51 --> 00:43:53] Can you guess what that reminds us of?
[00:43:56 --> 00:43:58] That's right. The crown of thorns
[00:43:58 --> 00:44:00] that Jesus wore when he died for us,
[00:44:02 --> 00:44:04] the thorns remind us of the pain he went through
[00:44:04 --> 00:44:06] to take away our sins.
[00:44:09 --> 00:44:13] This sacred heart reminds us of the never ending mercy
[00:44:13 --> 00:44:15] and love Jesus has for us.
[00:44:17 --> 00:44:20] Think about how much you love your mom and dad. It's a lot.
[00:44:21 --> 00:44:24] That's how much Jesus loves you even more.
[00:44:46 --> 00:44:49] Next is the immaculate heart of Mary.
[00:44:49 --> 00:44:52] This heart shows how much Mary loves Jesus
[00:44:52 --> 00:44:54] and how much she loves all of us too.
[00:44:56 --> 00:45:00] Mary's immaculate heart is also on fire with love.
[00:45:00 --> 00:45:02] It's also depicted with roses
[00:45:02 --> 00:45:04] or other flowers wrapped around it.
[00:45:04 --> 00:45:06] Representing the beauty God brings to our world.
[00:45:07 --> 00:45:10] There's a sword piercing through the heart.
[00:45:10 --> 00:45:14] That's because when she saw Jesus being tortured and hit
[00:45:14 --> 00:45:16] and spit on and crucified,
[00:45:16 --> 00:45:19] it felt like a sword going right into her heart.
[00:45:20 --> 00:45:24] Ow. So when we see Mary's heart, we think about
[00:45:24 --> 00:45:25] how much she loves her family
[00:45:25 --> 00:45:29] and how even though things can be hard sometimes God's love
[00:45:29 --> 00:45:32] will find a way to bring beauty and love to us.
[00:45:33 --> 00:45:35] Those hearts look great.
[00:45:36 --> 00:45:39] Wow, your Valentine's are looking beautiful.
[00:45:39 --> 00:45:41] Let's add some fun treats inside,
[00:45:41 --> 00:45:43] maybe some chocolates or candy.
[00:45:45 --> 00:45:47] And don't forget a sweet note.
[00:45:47 --> 00:45:50] Who are you giving your Valentine to?
[00:45:50 --> 00:45:54] I'm sure they'll love it The most merciful hearts of Jesus
[00:45:54 --> 00:45:58] and Mary Help us to understand just how much God loves us
[00:45:58 --> 00:46:00] and they inspire us to love
[00:46:00 --> 00:46:03] and care for others just like they did.
[00:46:03 --> 00:46:05] Now it's time to share your Valentine
[00:46:05 --> 00:46:06] with the people you love.
[00:46:06 --> 00:46:08] I'll see you next time on Juice Box. Bye.
[00:46:10 --> 00:46:12] The sacred heart of Jesus reminds us
[00:46:12 --> 00:46:16] that his love never runs out this June, let's ask Jesus
[00:46:16 --> 00:46:20] to make our hearts more like His loving for forgiving
[00:46:20 --> 00:46:21] and full of joy.
[00:46:21 --> 00:46:23] And don't forget to subscribe.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the Sacred Heart of Jesus?

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Catholic devotion that helps us contemplate Christ Himself: His love, mercy, and sacrifice. It points to the love Jesus continually shows the Father and all people.

How do you explain the Sacred Heart of Jesus to kids?

A simple way to explain the Sacred Heart to kids is this: Jesus loves you with His whole Heart. The flames remind us of His burning love, the thorns remind us of His suffering, and the cross reminds us of His saving sacrifice.

Is the Sacred Heart just a symbol?

No. The Sacred Heart is not just a picture or symbol. It points us to Jesus Himself and helps awaken and nourish faith in the mystery of Christ.

Why are there flames, thorns, and a cross on the Sacred Heart?

They each tell part of the story. Flames show Jesus' love is on fire. Thorns remind us of the suffering and wounds Jesus endured for us. The cross shows His sacrifice and how He gave everything to bring us to God.

Why is the Sacred Heart important for kids?

Because kids need a simple, strong reminder that Jesus' love is real, especially when they feel scared, guilty, or alone. The Sacred Heart teaches that Jesus doesn't get tired of loving us. It helps us want to stay close to Him in prayer and draws us toward the sacraments, especially Holy Communion (with the first Friday being a well-known devotion). And it reminds us that Sunday Mass is always first.

What is Confession and How Do We Do It? (Explained for Kids)

In this Juice Box episode, families will learn what confession is, what happens inside the confessional, and how kids can feel calm and confident before they go.

How to Go to Confession for Kids (Simple Steps)

Confession is a sacrament, a special way God gives us grace. It’s where we tell God we’re sorry (out loud) and He forgives us and helps us start fresh. It’s also called the Sacrament of Reconciliation because it brings us back close to God.

Before you go, you do an Examination of Conscience, which is just a quiet moment to think about your choices (it’s not a test). In confession, you say, “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned,” share what you’re sorry for, listen to the priest, and say an Act of Contrition (you can read it or say it in your own words).

Then the priest gives absolution (God forgives you) and a penance, which is not a punishment, but a small “remember God’s love” step.

For kids, confession is a brave, peaceful reset: come with a messy heart and leave clean because God is always happy you showed up.

Key Takeaways

  • Confession is not a “dungeon”, and it’s not about getting in trouble. It’s about being forgiven and starting fresh.
  • The Examination of Conscience is a simple check-in: “Was I kind? Did I tell the truth? Did I listen? Did I hurt someone?” (not a test).
  • The basic steps are easy: walk in (or sit near the priest), say “Bless me, Father…,” share what you’re sorry for, listen, and pray your sorry prayer.
  • The priest won’t be mad, and you don’t need perfect words. If you forget something, it’s okay; bring it next time.
  • No sin is “too big” for God’s mercy, and saying things out loud helps us be honest and brave.
  • You’ll leave with a penance (a small helpful step) and the best news: God forgives you, every time.

Episode Summary

A lot of kids think confession is going to be scary, like you’re walking into trouble. This episode flips that idea fast: confession isn’t a punishment zone, it’s a “God helps me start fresh” zone.

We learn what confession actually is (a sacrament), and why saying sorry out loud can be a good thing. Not because the priest replaces God, he doesn’t, but because God uses priests to help us hear forgiveness clearly and safely. (And yes: the priest can never tell anyone what you said.)

Then the episode turns confession into simple, doable steps. You prep with an Examination of Conscience, walk in, say the confession “hello,” share what you’re sorry for, listen to the priest, pray the Act of Contrition (even in your own words), and receive absolution. You leave forgiven, with a small penance that helps you remember God’s love.

[00:00:00 --> 00:00:02] Ah! Stop it! (whimsical music)
[00:00:02 --> 00:00:05] No, please. I'm too young.
[00:00:05 --> 00:00:07] Some kids think that during a confession
[00:00:07 --> 00:00:09] is like going to the dungeon.
[00:00:10 --> 00:00:12] I have a family.
[00:00:12 --> 00:00:13] But it's actually not.
[00:00:13 --> 00:00:14] (video warbling)
[00:00:14 --> 00:00:17] (groovy music)
[00:00:17 --> 00:00:19] You don't even look mad.
[00:00:19 --> 00:00:22] Our friend here is about to do something very important
[00:00:22 --> 00:00:25] and something he's a little nervous about.
[00:00:25 --> 00:00:27] He's going to his first confession.
[00:00:27 --> 00:00:30] (dramatic music) (child gasping)
[00:00:30 --> 00:00:31] "Juice Box."
[00:00:31 --> 00:00:33] (animation popping) (children giggling)
[00:00:33 --> 00:00:35] If it's not a torture dungeon.
[00:00:35 --> 00:00:36] What is confession?
[00:00:36 --> 00:00:38] Confession is a sacrament.
[00:00:38 --> 00:00:41] I should take notes.
[00:00:41 --> 00:00:43] Sacrament. (pen scratching)
[00:00:43 --> 00:00:47] A sacrament is a special way that God gives us His grace.
[00:00:47 --> 00:00:49] Special way (pen scratching)
[00:00:49 --> 00:00:51] God helps us.
[00:00:51 --> 00:00:55] In confession, we say that we're sorry out loud
[00:00:55 --> 00:00:56] and God forgives us
[00:00:56 --> 00:00:58] and then we get to start afresh.
[00:00:58 --> 00:01:01] So it's not about getting in trouble?
[00:01:01 --> 00:01:03] No. It's about being forgiven.
[00:01:03 --> 00:01:06] It's also called reconciliation
[00:01:06 --> 00:01:09] because in reconciliation, we become closer to God.
[00:01:09 --> 00:01:12] No dungeon. - Draw a heart there
[00:01:12 --> 00:01:13] in your notebook.
[00:01:13 --> 00:01:16] (pen scratching) (gentle music)
[00:01:16 --> 00:01:18] Now scribble on it.
[00:01:18 --> 00:01:20] (pen scratching)
[00:01:20 --> 00:01:21] Come on, give it some more scribbles.
[00:01:21 --> 00:01:23] (pen scratching)
[00:01:23 --> 00:01:25] Oh no. - That's what sin does.
[00:01:25 --> 00:01:28] Confession is when God cleans it.
[00:01:28 --> 00:01:30] So I can bring in my messy heart
[00:01:30 --> 00:01:32] and God will clean it?
[00:01:32 --> 00:01:35] Exactly. Come messy and leave clean.
[00:01:35 --> 00:01:36] All clean. (gentle music continues)
[00:01:36 --> 00:01:37] (video chiming)
[00:01:37 --> 00:01:39] Okay. That feels less scary.
[00:01:39 --> 00:01:42] Good, because it shouldn't be scary.
[00:01:42 --> 00:01:43] What if I forget what to say?
[00:01:43 --> 00:01:45] What if I say the wrong thing?
[00:01:45 --> 00:01:47] What if the priest is mad?
[00:01:47 --> 00:01:48] What if I'm the worst kid ever?
[00:01:48 --> 00:01:50] Whoa, whoa, whoa.
[00:01:50 --> 00:01:51] Let's, let's slow down.
[00:01:51 --> 00:01:53] How do I know what to say?
[00:01:53 --> 00:01:56] That's where the examination of conscience comes in.
[00:01:56 --> 00:02:00] Examination of conscience. (pen scratching)
[00:02:00 --> 00:02:02] Hey, is this a test?
[00:02:02 --> 00:02:04] Nope, it's a quiet moment where you think about
[00:02:04 --> 00:02:07] how you love God and others.
[00:02:07 --> 00:02:09] Thinking about (pen scratching)
[00:02:09 --> 00:02:10] my choices.
[00:02:11 --> 00:02:13] You can ask yourself questions like...
[00:02:13 --> 00:02:14] Did I listen (animation popping)
[00:02:14 --> 00:02:16] to my parents and teachers?
[00:02:16 --> 00:02:18] Did I tell the truth? (animation popping)
[00:02:18 --> 00:02:20] Did I hurt someone (animation popping)
[00:02:20 --> 00:02:21] with my words?
[00:02:21 --> 00:02:22] Did I say that (animation popping)
[00:02:22 --> 00:02:23] I was sorry?
[00:02:23 --> 00:02:24] Did I pray (animation popping)
[00:02:24 --> 00:02:26] even a little?
[00:02:26 --> 00:02:27] I remember something. (animation binging)
[00:02:27 --> 00:02:28] Let me write that down.
[00:02:28 --> 00:02:31] It looks like your conscious is working great.
[00:02:31 --> 00:02:32] (bright music) (video binging)
[00:02:32 --> 00:02:34] What if I forget something?
[00:02:34 --> 00:02:37] Well, if you forget something, that's okay.
[00:02:37 --> 00:02:38] God's not grading you.
[00:02:38 --> 00:02:41] If you remember something, then you can bring it back
[00:02:41 --> 00:02:42] to your next confession.
[00:02:42 --> 00:02:45] Not a test. (pen scratching)
[00:02:45 --> 00:02:47] What if the priest gets mad?
[00:02:47 --> 00:02:48] (transition chiming) (priest groaning)
[00:02:48 --> 00:02:51] (child crying)
[00:02:51 --> 00:02:51] (transition chiming)
[00:02:51 --> 00:02:54] Ugh, I, I promise. I promise.
[00:02:54 --> 00:02:56] I've never been mad at confession.
[00:02:56 --> 00:02:59] Never? - Never.
[00:02:59 --> 00:03:01] I'm always happy when kids go to confession
[00:03:01 --> 00:03:03] and most importantly, so is God.
[00:03:03 --> 00:03:05] Priest won't (pen scratching)
[00:03:05 --> 00:03:08] get mad.
[00:03:08 --> 00:03:10] What if the sin is just too big?
[00:03:12 --> 00:03:15] God's mercy is bigger than any sin.
[00:03:15 --> 00:03:17] Even the really big ones?
[00:03:17 --> 00:03:19] Especially the really big ones.
[00:03:19 --> 00:03:22] There's no sin that God's scared of.
[00:03:22 --> 00:03:24] He's heard all of them.
[00:03:24 --> 00:03:25] (gentle music)
[00:03:25 --> 00:03:27] (box clattering) - Oops.
[00:03:27 --> 00:03:28] That sin was really heavy.
[00:03:28 --> 00:03:30] I'm glad to get rid of it.
[00:03:30 --> 00:03:32] No sin is to big (pen scratching)
[00:03:32 --> 00:03:33] for God.
[00:03:33 --> 00:03:36] Well, it seems weird I have to tell you.
[00:03:36 --> 00:03:38] No offense, you seem very nice.
[00:03:38 --> 00:03:40] None taken. (groovy music)
[00:03:40 --> 00:03:45] Why can't I just tell God I'm sorry. Like directly.
[00:03:45 --> 00:03:47] Doesn't He hear our prayers?
[00:03:47 --> 00:03:48] Hello God. Are you here?
[00:03:48 --> 00:03:50] God hears every call,
[00:03:50 --> 00:03:54] but he knows something really important about us.
[00:03:54 --> 00:03:55] What does he know? (groovy music continues)
[00:03:55 --> 00:03:58] He knows that it's really hard to be honest
[00:03:58 --> 00:04:00] unless we say things out loud.
[00:04:00 --> 00:04:03] Like when I say sorry out loud
[00:04:03 --> 00:04:05] and not just in my head?
[00:04:05 --> 00:04:06] Exactly.
[00:04:06 --> 00:04:07] When you say your sins out loud,
[00:04:07 --> 00:04:10] you're being brave and truthful.
[00:04:10 --> 00:04:13] Even if it's r-really awkward?
[00:04:13 --> 00:04:16] Especially if it's really awkward.
[00:04:16 --> 00:04:17] When you go to confession,
[00:04:17 --> 00:04:19] I'm not replacing God.
[00:04:19 --> 00:04:22] God gave priests a special job.
[00:04:22 --> 00:04:23] Okay. (groovy music continues)
[00:04:23 --> 00:04:26] He trusts us to listen, to keep your confession safe
[00:04:26 --> 00:04:29] and help you hear His forgiveness out loud.
[00:04:29 --> 00:04:34] So you're kinda like God's telephone confession answerer?
[00:04:34 --> 00:04:35] I help you hear God say
[00:04:35 --> 00:04:37] (character speaking gibberish)
[00:04:37 --> 00:04:37] you are forgiven.
[00:04:37 --> 00:04:39] And no matter what you say,
[00:04:39 --> 00:04:42] I can never tell anyone else, ever.
[00:04:42 --> 00:04:43] Oh. (transition chiming)
[00:04:43 --> 00:04:47] (character speaking gibberish)
[00:04:50 --> 00:04:52] Thanks God. (transition chiming)
[00:04:52 --> 00:04:55] Okay, I think I'm ready. Let's do this.
[00:04:55 --> 00:04:57] (dramatic music)
[00:05:10 --> 00:05:12] Let's do this.
[00:05:12 --> 00:05:15] Alright, Father, give me the mission.
[00:05:15 --> 00:05:16] Step one, (animation popping)
[00:05:16 --> 00:05:20] walk into the confessional or sit down next to the priest.
[00:05:20 --> 00:05:21] That was easy. (groovy music)
[00:05:21 --> 00:05:22] Two. (animation popping)
[00:05:22 --> 00:05:25] Say the special confession "Hello."
[00:05:27 --> 00:05:30] Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.
[00:05:30 --> 00:05:31] Did I say it right?
[00:05:31 --> 00:05:34] You're doing great. - Then do I say the stuff?
[00:05:34 --> 00:05:35] Yep. (animation popping)
[00:05:35 --> 00:05:38] Go ahead and tell God the things you are sorry for.
[00:05:38 --> 00:05:40] Good thing I wrote these down.
[00:05:40 --> 00:05:44] (character speaking gibberish)
[00:05:47 --> 00:05:49] Thank you for being honest.
[00:05:49 --> 00:05:52] That wasn't terrible. What now?
[00:05:52 --> 00:05:54] Now you've listen. (animation popping)
[00:05:54 --> 00:05:56] Sometimes the priest gives you advice.
[00:05:56 --> 00:05:58] Sometimes he'll give you encouragement.
[00:05:58 --> 00:06:02] Sometimes he'll give you a reminder that God loves you.
[00:06:02 --> 00:06:06] God still loves me. (pen scratching)
[00:06:06 --> 00:06:08] Oh no. Isn't there a prayer now?
[00:06:08 --> 00:06:10] What if I forget it? - Oh no.
[00:06:10 --> 00:06:11] D-don't worry.
[00:06:11 --> 00:06:13] You can either read it off of your notes
[00:06:13 --> 00:06:15] or you can say it in your own words.
[00:06:15 --> 00:06:18] Oh, phew. Let's give it a go.
[00:06:18 --> 00:06:22] God, I'm sorry for the things I've done wrong.
[00:06:22 --> 00:06:24] Please help me do better.
[00:06:24 --> 00:06:26] Amen. What happens now?
[00:06:26 --> 00:06:28] The priest forgives you (groovy music continues)
[00:06:28 --> 00:06:28] and then the priest (animation popping)
[00:06:28 --> 00:06:30] will raise his hand and say a prayer
[00:06:30 --> 00:06:33] saying that God forgives all of your sins.
[00:06:33 --> 00:06:36] All of them? - All of them.
[00:06:36 --> 00:06:37] Your sins are forgiven.
[00:06:37 --> 00:06:38] You've got a squeaky clean heart.
[00:06:38 --> 00:06:41] Am I grounded? - No.
[00:06:41 --> 00:06:43] The priest will give you a penance,
[00:06:43 --> 00:06:44] which isn't a punishment.
[00:06:44 --> 00:06:46] A penance is something small
[00:06:46 --> 00:06:48] that helps you remember God's love.
[00:06:48 --> 00:06:51] It might be a prayer you have to do
[00:06:51 --> 00:06:53] or something nice to do for someone else,
[00:06:53 --> 00:06:54] or maybe the priest will ask you
[00:06:54 --> 00:06:56] to read something from the Bible.
[00:06:56 --> 00:06:58] That's it? - That's it.
[00:06:58 --> 00:07:00] And whenever you feel lost
[00:07:00 --> 00:07:02] or you're not sure what to say, don't worry.
[00:07:02 --> 00:07:04] The priest will help you walk right through it.
[00:07:04 --> 00:07:05] (upbeat music)
[00:07:05 --> 00:07:09] I thought confession was scary. (vocalizing)
[00:07:09 --> 00:07:10] Now I know exactly what to do.
[00:07:11 --> 00:07:13] And God is always happy you came.
[00:07:13 --> 00:07:16] I gotta tell my friends about this confession thing.
[00:07:16 --> 00:07:17] Key points. (animation popping)
[00:07:17 --> 00:07:20] Confession is not a dungeon. (animation popping)
[00:07:20 --> 00:07:21] That's very important. (bright music)
[00:07:21 --> 00:07:24] God hears me when I pray. (animation popping)
[00:07:24 --> 00:07:26] And he forgives you every time.
[00:07:26 --> 00:07:27] Saying things out loud (animation popping)
[00:07:27 --> 00:07:29] helps me to be honest.
[00:07:30 --> 00:07:32] Confession is a sacrament, (animation popping)
[00:07:32 --> 00:07:35] which means it's a special way God helps me.
[00:07:35 --> 00:07:38] Confession cleans my heart (animation popping)
[00:07:38 --> 00:07:40] and helps me start fresh.
[00:07:40 --> 00:07:41] Confession brings me (animation popping)
[00:07:41 --> 00:07:43] closer to God. (bright music continues)
[00:07:43 --> 00:07:45] I've that underlined twice.
[00:07:45 --> 00:07:48] Confession is not scary. (animation popping)
[00:07:48 --> 00:07:50] It's mercy.
[00:07:50 --> 00:07:51] You don't have to be perfect.
[00:07:52 --> 00:07:53] You just have to show up.
[00:07:53 --> 00:07:54] (transition chiming)
[00:07:54 --> 00:07:56] Does this help you?
[00:07:56 --> 00:07:59] And you want more videos that help explain the faith?
[00:07:59 --> 00:08:02] You can so subscribe! (vocalizing)
[00:08:02 --> 00:08:03] And watch with your family.
[00:08:03 --> 00:08:05] See you next time.
[00:08:05 --> 00:08:08] (video boinking)
[00:08:08 --> 00:08:09] "Juice Box."

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is confession in the Catholic Church for kids?

Confession is a sacrament where we tell God we’re sorry, and God forgives us. It’s also called Reconciliation because it brings us back close to God. It’s not about being punished, it’s about mercy and a fresh start.

How do kids prepare for confession?

Kids can do an Examination of Conscience, which is a quiet moment to think about their choices. You can ask simple questions like: “Was I kind or mean? Did I tell the truth? Did I listen? Did I hurt someone?” It’s not a test, just a helpful check-in.

What do you say when you start confession?

You can start with: “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.” If you’ve been before, you can also say when your last confession was (like last week, last month, or last year). If you get stuck, the priest will help you.

What if I forget what to say or forget a sin?

That’s okay. God isn’t grading you, and you don’t need perfect words. If you remember something later, you can bring it to your next confession.

What is penance, and is it a punishment?

Penance is not a punishment. It’s a small, helpful step, often a prayer or a kind action, that helps you remember God’s love and keeps you moving forward. Think “tiny mission,” not “grounded.”

What are the steps in going to confession?

Here’s a simple list you can follow:

  1. Pray before you go in
  2. Examine your conscience
  3. Walk in
  4. Enter and greet the priest
  5. Say how long it’s been since your last confession or if it's your first
  6. Say what you're sorry for
  7. Listen and receive your penance
  8. Pray the Act of Contrition
  9. Receive forgiveness
  10. Then do your penance

Light of the Sacraments

Light of the sacraments! What does that mean? Amazingly, God gave us the sacraments as gifts that we can see, feel, smell, and touch today. The sacraments help to make us holy and build up the body of Christ; they help us nourish, strengthen, and express our faith.

Today, we’re going to read another incredible book from Word on Fire called “Light of the Sacraments.” This book discusses the different sacraments and reveals mystery images if you shine the light behind the pages! How cool is that? Get some light, a flashlight, or even just a window. Let’s get started!

LEGO Confessional

Sin is when we do something wrong that makes us turn away from God. God wants to be our friend, and when we do bad things, it hurts our friendship. But, when we go to confession, it’s like telling our friend that we’re really sorry, and we can be friends again. It’s a comforting and relieving experience, knowing that God will always forgive us.

Confession is awesome—it may feel scary, but it also feels nice.

Join us as we build this Lego confessional, and listen as Dilly explains more about sin and why confession is important.

Seven Sacraments for Kids (Explained Simply)

In this Juice Box episode, Fr. Tim explains the seven sacraments for kids in a simple, memorable way, so families understand what a sacrament is, what each one does, and how these gifts help us stay close to Jesus. A sacrament is a visible sign of God’s grace, something Christ gave, and the Church carries, so God’s life can truly touch us in real ways.

Seven Sacraments for Kids (What They Are and Why They Matter)

The seven sacraments for kids are seven special gifts Jesus gave the Church to help us receive His love and His life. A sacrament is a “living sign”, something you can see and experience, where God gives grace and helps change our hearts.

In this seven-sacraments video for kids, Fr. Tim walks us through the following sacraments:

  • Baptism
  • Holy Communion
  • Confirmation
  • Reconciliation
  • Anointing of the Sick
  • Matrimony
  • Holy Orders

Each one connects to real life, like starting fresh, getting stronger, being forgiven, being healed, and being called to love and serve. The big idea is that sacraments aren’t just “church stuff.” They’re how Jesus stays close to us in visible, real ways, because the sacraments are signs that actually bring God’s grace to us when we receive them with the right heart.

For kids, the sacraments are like God’s best gifts: they help you grow, get back up when you fall, and remember you’re never doing faith alone. Jesus meets you right where you are.

Key Takeaways

  • The seven sacraments are Jesus’ special gifts that give us His love and help us stay close to Him in real life.
  • A sacrament is a “living sign” you can experience, something visible that God uses to give grace and change our hearts.
  • Baptism begins our life with God and is the gateway to life in the Spirit. Through it, we are freed from sin and reborn as God’s children.
  • Holy Communion brings us close to Jesus in a unique way, because the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.
  • Confirmation strengthens us to live our faith with courage, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and helps us belong more fully to the Church.
  • Reconciliation restores us when we mess up: it brings God’s forgiveness and reconciliation with the Church.
  • Anointing of the Sick brings God’s help and healing when we’re suffering.
  • Matrimony is a man and woman giving their whole lives in love, and Holy Orders is a man becoming ordained to serve the Church.
  • Holy Orders is when a man is ordained to serve the Church as a deacon, priest, or bishop, so God can care for His people through them.
  • The moral is simple: the sacraments show that Jesus doesn’t love us from far away. He gives us concrete, repeatable ways to come back to Him and grow.

Episode Summary

Fr. Tim starts with something kids instantly understand: gifts. We all have favorite gifts, but the sacraments are even better because they’re gifts Jesus gives to help us live close to Him, not just remember Him from afar.

Then he explains what a sacrament is in kid language: a “living sign.” It’s something you can see and experience, and God uses it to give grace. In other words, it’s not just a symbol, it actually helps God’s grace reach you and helps change your heart from the inside out.

Next, Fr. Tim walks through the seven sacraments using a fun puzzle format, helping kids remember each one and what it’s for. Kids get a quick tour of the “big moments” sacraments cover: beginning our faith life, being fed by Jesus, being strengthened, being forgiven, being healed, and being called to love and serve.

By the end, kids don’t just hear a list, but they understand the purpose: Jesus loves us so much that He gives us visible, real ways to stay close to Him again and again.

[00:00:00 --> 00:00:00] What is one (bubbles pop)
[00:00:00 --> 00:00:02] of your favorite gifts that you've ever gotten?
[00:00:02 --> 00:00:04] My favorite gifts that I ever got,
[00:00:04 --> 00:00:07] ever, ever, ever, was a new pair
[00:00:07 --> 00:00:08] of hockey skates. (skates shuffle)
[00:00:08 --> 00:00:09] (whistle chirps)
[00:00:09 --> 00:00:10] But boys and girls, guess what?
[00:00:10 --> 00:00:13] The sacraments are even more amazing.
[00:00:13 --> 00:00:15] The sacraments are the best gift.
[00:00:15 --> 00:00:17] How crazy is that?
[00:00:17 --> 00:00:18] Juice Box.
[00:00:18 --> 00:00:19] (child laughs) (liquid sloshes)
[00:00:19 --> 00:00:21] Hey, boys and girls, this is Father Tim,
[00:00:21 --> 00:00:22] and today, we're talking
[00:00:22 --> 00:00:24] about the sacraments. (bells tinkle)
[00:00:24 --> 00:00:27] There are seven special sacraments
[00:00:27 --> 00:00:28] of the church (bubbles pop)
[00:00:28 --> 00:00:32] that give us so much of Jesus's love and Jesus's life.
[00:00:32 --> 00:00:35] And so we're gonna talk about all of the sacraments today,
[00:00:35 --> 00:00:37] and I have this amazing puzzle here.
[00:00:37 --> 00:00:38] I'm not really good at puzzles,
[00:00:38 --> 00:00:41] so you actually have to help me,
[00:00:41 --> 00:00:44] and we're gonna start with the biggest puzzle piece,
[00:00:44 --> 00:00:46] and it's this one,
[00:00:46 --> 00:00:47] the sacraments. (bells tinkle)
[00:00:47 --> 00:00:50] A sacrament is really easy to remember.
[00:00:50 --> 00:00:53] A sacrament is a living sign, which does something.
[00:00:53 --> 00:00:55] So a sacrament (bubbles pop)
[00:00:55 --> 00:00:58] is a visible sign of God's grace.
[00:00:58 --> 00:01:02] Sacraments use our senses like touch, smell, and taste.
[00:01:02 --> 00:01:05] Sometimes I think that God is really, really,
[00:01:05 --> 00:01:08] really far away and it's hard to get to him,
[00:01:08 --> 00:01:13] but the sacraments show that Jesus stays close to us,
[00:01:13 --> 00:01:17] and we get to stay close to him in the sacraments.
[00:01:17 --> 00:01:20] Can you help me to see where I might place this?
[00:01:21 --> 00:01:24] Okay, I think we're gonna place it here.
[00:01:24 --> 00:01:26] Sacrament number one,
[00:01:26 --> 00:01:27] baptism. (bells tinkle)
[00:01:27 --> 00:01:29] What's going on here?
[00:01:29 --> 00:01:30] We got hands.
[00:01:30 --> 00:01:34] We got a little water falling off the hands.
[00:01:34 --> 00:01:34] What does water do?
[00:01:34 --> 00:01:36] Water cleans us.
[00:01:36 --> 00:01:36] (water whooshes)
[00:01:36 --> 00:01:38] And so during the baptism,
[00:01:38 --> 00:01:42] the priest pours the water over your head
[00:01:42 --> 00:01:46] and that the sacrament washes away original sin,
[00:01:46 --> 00:01:51] washes away the things in our heart that keep us from Jesus.
[00:01:51 --> 00:01:52] So cool.
[00:01:52 --> 00:01:55] Let's see where this is placed.
[00:01:55 --> 00:01:56] Oh, we shouldn't put it there.
[00:01:57 --> 00:01:59] Shouldn't put it here. - It goes there,
[00:01:59 --> 00:02:00] yellow with yellow.
[00:02:00 --> 00:02:03] (children cheer)
[00:02:03 --> 00:02:04] Sacrament number two,
[00:02:04 --> 00:02:05] holy communion. (bell tinkle)
[00:02:05 --> 00:02:07] It's this red one here.
[00:02:07 --> 00:02:09] And on the red one, what do we see?
[00:02:09 --> 00:02:11] What's on this little piece?
[00:02:11 --> 00:02:16] We got a little host, right, from mass.
[00:02:16 --> 00:02:18] Also have a chalice.
[00:02:18 --> 00:02:22] If you've ever seen the priest hold up the bread
[00:02:22 --> 00:02:24] and he holds up the wine,
[00:02:24 --> 00:02:27] he says, "This is my body."
[00:02:27 --> 00:02:30] And then he says, "This is my blood."
[00:02:30 --> 00:02:31] Whoa.
[00:02:31 --> 00:02:36] We get to receive Jesus in his body
[00:02:36 --> 00:02:37] and his blood at mass.
[00:02:37 --> 00:02:40] So I'm gonna find the place where we put this piece.
[00:02:40 --> 00:02:42] Can you help me out?
[00:02:42 --> 00:02:43] Should it go here?
[00:02:43 --> 00:02:45] No.
[00:02:45 --> 00:02:48] Should it go here?
[00:02:48 --> 00:02:49] Yay!
[00:02:49 --> 00:02:51] Yes.
[00:02:51 --> 00:02:52] Sacrament number three,
[00:02:52 --> 00:02:54] confirmation. (bells tinkle)
[00:02:54 --> 00:02:56] We got a dove.
[00:02:56 --> 00:02:57] Dove represents the Holy Spirit,
[00:02:57 --> 00:02:58] (choir sings)
[00:02:58 --> 00:03:01] like a bird coming down upon us,
[00:03:01 --> 00:03:05] that you are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
[00:03:05 --> 00:03:08] This sacrament reminds us you never have to be scared.
[00:03:08 --> 00:03:12] You are totally loved, like this huge God hug.
[00:03:12 --> 00:03:15] So let's find where this piece goes, okay?
[00:03:15 --> 00:03:17] All right, should it go right here?
[00:03:17 --> 00:03:19] No. (buzzer buzzes)
[00:03:19 --> 00:03:20] Should it go right here?
[00:03:20 --> 00:03:22] No. (buzzer buzzes)
[00:03:22 --> 00:03:23] Looks like we're
[00:03:23 --> 00:03:25] gonna put it right here. - Yay!
[00:03:26 --> 00:03:28] Sacrament number four,
[00:03:28 --> 00:03:30] reconciliation. (bells tinkle)
[00:03:30 --> 00:03:35] Long, big word, but what it means is forgiveness.
[00:03:35 --> 00:03:36] What do we have here?
[00:03:36 --> 00:03:38] We have a cross.
[00:03:38 --> 00:03:41] A cross, of course, it represents Jesus,
[00:03:41 --> 00:03:43] it represents his love for us.
[00:03:43 --> 00:03:47] We can tell God, "God, I'm sorry."
[00:03:47 --> 00:03:49] And what does God do?
[00:03:49 --> 00:03:51] He forgives us.
[00:03:51 --> 00:03:54] And not only that, he makes us new.
[00:03:54 --> 00:03:58] Whenever you go into confession, you don't have to be scared
[00:03:58 --> 00:04:00] because Jesus wins.
[00:04:00 --> 00:04:02] So let's find a place for it.
[00:04:02 --> 00:04:04] Looks like it's gonna go over here.
[00:04:04 --> 00:04:07] (piece snaps)
[00:04:07 --> 00:04:08] Sacrament number five,
[00:04:08 --> 00:04:10] anointing of the sick. (bells tinkle)
[00:04:10 --> 00:04:14] So it looks like we have hands that are being held over.
[00:04:14 --> 00:04:18] This is the priest's hands during the anointing of the sick.
[00:04:18 --> 00:04:20] When we are sick, we need healing.
[00:04:20 --> 00:04:22] We need medicine.
[00:04:22 --> 00:04:24] This is the doctor sacrament,
[00:04:24 --> 00:04:27] that Jesus gets to be a doctor for us.
[00:04:27 --> 00:04:29] Let's find where this is.
[00:04:29 --> 00:04:31] I think it's getting easier.
[00:04:31 --> 00:04:34] It looks like it's gonna go here in this purple one.
[00:04:34 --> 00:04:36] Sacrament number six,
[00:04:36 --> 00:04:37] matrimony. (bells tinkle)
[00:04:37 --> 00:04:39] Looks like we have gold rings,
[00:04:39 --> 00:04:41] two gold rings.
[00:04:41 --> 00:04:44] What does that remind you of?
[00:04:44 --> 00:04:47] Right, this is the sacrament of marriage,
[00:04:47 --> 00:04:51] that a man and a woman, when they love each other
[00:04:51 --> 00:04:55] and they want to give their whole lives to each other,
[00:04:55 --> 00:04:56] they get married.
[00:04:56 --> 00:04:59] They become a living sign of the Trinity.
[00:04:59 --> 00:05:00] So cool.
[00:05:00 --> 00:05:02] We're gonna find a place for this little piece.
[00:05:02 --> 00:05:04] Do you know where it goes?
[00:05:05 --> 00:05:06] Great job.
[00:05:08 --> 00:05:09] Sacrament number seven.
[00:05:09 --> 00:05:11] Holy orders. (bells tinkle)
[00:05:11 --> 00:05:14] We are onto our last sacrament.
[00:05:14 --> 00:05:16] Sacrament of holy orders.
[00:05:16 --> 00:05:20] This special cloth is called a stole.
[00:05:20 --> 00:05:24] When a priest is doing an official priest thing,
[00:05:24 --> 00:05:26] he wears the stole.
[00:05:26 --> 00:05:27] So the special sacrament
[00:05:27 --> 00:05:31] of holy orders is when a man becomes a priest
[00:05:31 --> 00:05:34] and to serve his family, the church.
[00:05:34 --> 00:05:36] One of my happiest days
[00:05:36 --> 00:05:38] of my whole life (camera shutter clicks)
[00:05:38 --> 00:05:40] was when I became a priest.
[00:05:41 --> 00:05:45] So let's find the last sacrament spot, goes right here.
[00:05:47 --> 00:05:48] That's all the sacraments,
[00:05:48 --> 00:05:51] but there's two bonus pieces. (bell dings)
[00:05:51 --> 00:05:53] This is Brother Francis.
[00:05:53 --> 00:05:57] He is wearing a special garment called a habit.
[00:05:57 --> 00:06:01] Brothers and sisters belong to religious communities.
[00:06:01 --> 00:06:04] They devote their lives to God through prayer
[00:06:04 --> 00:06:05] and acts of service.
[00:06:05 --> 00:06:07] Way to go, Brother Francis.
[00:06:07 --> 00:06:09] (bubble pops)
[00:06:09 --> 00:06:10] He fits.
[00:06:10 --> 00:06:15] Last but not least, we have Reynaldo who is a bird,
[00:06:15 --> 00:06:17] but what kind of bird is Reynaldo?
[00:06:17 --> 00:06:20] What is the name of a bird that is red?
[00:06:20 --> 00:06:21] Yes, a cardinal.
[00:06:21 --> 00:06:24] And what is special about cardinals in the church?
[00:06:24 --> 00:06:27] They're really, really, really special men
[00:06:27 --> 00:06:30] that are really close to the Pope.
[00:06:30 --> 00:06:33] And now I'm gonna place Reynaldo in the last spot.
[00:06:33 --> 00:06:34] Twee twee twee.
[00:06:34 --> 00:06:35] Here we go.
[00:06:35 --> 00:06:35] Boom. - Yay!
[00:06:37 --> 00:06:39] Oh my gosh, boys and girls, we did it.
[00:06:39 --> 00:06:41] We finished the puzzle,
[00:06:41 --> 00:06:44] and we've learned so much about the sacraments.
[00:06:44 --> 00:06:47] Jesus loves you so much,
[00:06:47 --> 00:06:51] and that he wants to give us living signs
[00:06:51 --> 00:06:53] so that we can be close to him.
[00:06:53 --> 00:06:56] Wow, the sacraments are so special.
[00:06:56 --> 00:06:58] Let's review them all one more time.
[00:06:58 --> 00:06:59] Baptism.
[00:06:59 --> 00:07:00] Holy communion.
[00:07:00 --> 00:07:02] Confirmation.
[00:07:02 --> 00:07:03] Reconciliation.
[00:07:03 --> 00:07:05] Anointing of the sick.
[00:07:05 --> 00:07:06] Matrimony.
[00:07:06 --> 00:07:07] Holy orders.
[00:07:07 --> 00:07:09] Thank you so much for doing this puzzle.
[00:07:09 --> 00:07:11] I could not have done it without you,
[00:07:11 --> 00:07:14] and I'm gonna be praying for you like crazy,
[00:07:14 --> 00:07:18] and I will see you next time on Juice Box.
[00:07:18 --> 00:07:19] Juice Box.
[00:07:19 --> 00:07:20] (child laughs) (liquid sloshes)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a sacrament, explained simply for kids?

A sacrament is a “living sign” you can experience, something visible that God uses to give grace. It’s not just a reminder; it actually helps God’s grace reach you and change your heart. Sacraments are how Jesus stays close to us in real ways.

Why are the seven sacraments important for kids?

Because kids need God’s help in real life: when they’re growing, when they’re scared, when they mess up, and when they need strength. The sacraments remind kids that Jesus is close and that the Church is a family that helps us follow Him.

What is the difference between Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Reconciliation?

  • Holy Communion brings us close to Jesus at Mass in a special way, because the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.
  • Confirmation strengthens us by the Holy Spirit so we can live our faith boldly and belong more deeply to the Church.
  • Reconciliation is how we come back to God when we sin, receiving God’s forgiveness and being reconciled with the Church we have wounded.

How can kids remember the seven sacraments?

Use a simple rhythm: say them in the same order each time, make a hand-motion or “memory beat,” and connect each sacrament to a real-life moment (begin, be fed, be strengthened, be forgiven, be healed, love, serve). Watching a seven-sacraments video for kids also helps because kids remember what they can see.

The 10 Commandments Explained

God gave us the Ten Commandments to Moses long ago to teach us basic rules for living in love the way God wants us to. They’re like an instruction guide. And even though they are really old, Jesus thought they were important too. Those rules are still good for us to know and live by today. The first three commandments talk about how you should treat God. The other seven are for the way you treat others. Let’s learn about each commandment and what it means for us!
