Meet the Saints in This Special

St. George and the Dragon

Dragons are officially scary! Ms. Julia says St. George reminds us that being brave does not mean you never feel afraid. It means you trust God anyway. Try saying it with Ms. Julia and Dilly: “Jesus, help me be brave.”

St. Francis and the Wolf

The town had good reason to be afraid of the wolf. Ms. Julia says St. Francis trusted God and chose peace instead of fear. She says we can choose peace too, by praying, asking for help, and trying to understand someone instead of assuming the worst.

St. Denis

This is one of the strangest saint stories Ms. Julia and Dilly have ever told. Ms. Julia says it reminds us that nothing could stop St. Denis from loving Jesus and sharing the Gospel.

St. Christina the Astonishing

St. Christina’s story is full of extraordinary things. Ms. Julia says the most important part is that she prayed for souls, because she loved people enough to pray and make sacrifices for them.

St. Macarius and the Talking Skull

This story reminds us again that prayer for the dead is never wasted.

St. Padre Pio and the Soul in Purgatory

For the last story of the night, Ms. Julia tells about a mysterious visitor asking St. Padre Pio for a prayer.

A Quiet Moment for People Who Have Died

Between the stories, Ms. Julia and Dilly talk about heaven, purgatory and praying for people who have died. Ms. Julia says death is not the end of the story, because Jesus opened heaven for us. She says purgatory is not a scary haunted place. It is where God lovingly prepares souls for heaven, and we can keep loving people through our prayers.

Episode Summary

Have you ever felt tempted to do something you knew was wrong, and thought, “It’s just this once”?

In this episode of Juicebox, two kids find themselves in a battle arena that looks like a card game. But this is no ordinary game. Their enemy is temptation, and Satan is ready to test how strong they really are.

Round by round, he tries to trip them up. First comes pride, telling them they don’t need anyone. Then comes comparing themselves to others, which makes them feel like they are not enough. Next is distraction, which makes it hard to focus, and then despair, which whispers that nothing they do matters. Each time, the kids call upon a saint for help, from St. Peter and St. Joan of Arc to St. Carlo Acutis and Our Lady, Undoer of Knots.

Then Satan tries his sneakiest move yet: small choices that seem like no big deal. A little white lie. Skipping prayer. Just one more scroll. The kids start to drift, until one of them spots the trick. Satan did not win with one big hit. He stacked up a bunch of tiny ones. So the kids fight back with a combo of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, St. John Paul II, and St. Michael the Archangel.

In the end, the kids see that they were never fighting alone. The saints helped them, and the saints always point us to Jesus.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are saint trading cards?

Saint trading cards are a fun way to learn about the saints. Each card shows a saint's name, a picture, the virtues that saint is known for, their feast day, and what they are the patron of. In the video, the kids use cards in a game-style battle. You can make your own card with the free worksheet below.

Do the saints really have powers and star ratings?

No. The stars and stats are part of the game style that makes the video fun. In real life, the saints do not have power of their own. All holiness comes from God. The saints are friends of God who pray for us and show us how to follow Jesus.

What does it mean to "call upon" a saint?

It means asking a saint to pray for us, the same way you might ask a friend or family member to pray for you. We pray to God, and we ask the saints to pray with us and for us. The saints are with God in Heaven, and they always point us to Jesus.

Who are the saints in the video?

  • St. Peter: Denied Jesus, but trusted in Jesus' mercy. He helps with humility.
  • St. Joan of Arc: Brave and sure of who God made her to be.
  • St. Carlo Acutis: A teen saint who loved the Eucharist and used the internet in a good way.
  • Our Lady, Undoer of Knots: Mary, who brings our struggles to her Son.
  • St. Benedict: Teaches us to recognize the enemy and reject him.
  • St. Joseph: Protector of the Holy Family, called Terror of Demons.
  • St. John Paul II: Known for saying "Be not afraid."
  • St. Michael the Archangel: Defender against evil. His name means "Who is like God?"

What is temptation?

Temptation is a pull to do something wrong or to turn away from God. Everyone feels it, even the saints. Being tempted is not a sin. What matters is what we choose to do next.

Is Satan real?

Yes. Satan, also called the devil, is a fallen angel who tries to pull us away from God. But he is far weaker than God, and we are never alone. Jesus is with us, and the saints and angels help us.

Why does the video say small choices matter?

Small choices add up. One more scroll, a little white lie, or skipping prayer can slowly pull us away from God if we keep choosing them. The good news is that small good choices add up too. Pray, tell the truth, and stay close to Jesus every day.

What if I give in to temptation?

Everyone messes up sometimes. St. Peter denied Jesus, and Jesus still chose him. God's mercy is bigger than our mistakes. Say sorry, ask for help, and talk to a parent or a priest about going to Confession.

How do I make my own saint trading card?

Pick your favorite saint, or ask a grown-up to help you learn about a saint who was not in the video. Then use the free worksheet below to draw your saint, add a favorite quote, color in the virtue circles, and fill in the feast day and what the saint is patron of.
